BBQ'd goat, best over an oak fire. I tend to make dry rubs for such occasions

I seem to recall the selection of the right goat was more important than how it was cooked. Assuming you've got that down, I'm a fan of slow roast and gravy. Simple.

I like to marinate it in Lipton's Onion Soup mix and then add a bit of garlic during a slow roast and baste. Smell the meat before You buy it to make sure it's not to musky. A Young kid is better than an old Buck, kinda like deer. Once they hit the musk faze it can taint the meat..Swiss Torgenburger kids are some of the best eating, in My opinion.....

You know . . . I like to eat most anything, but I think JB may have this one right.
I've only had goat a handful of times, including recently at a restaurant in Greece that specialized in the stuff, and I've never found it to be worth getting excited about.

Not much difference between goat and lamb. You could find lots of lamb recipes.

My favorite way, amongst the 2 or 3 I've tried, is Mexican Birria de Chivo. You can find recipes to make a stew, but I like it made into taco/burrito meat. I've never made it, but this recipe seems to look like what I like:
http://mexicanfood.about.com/od/delicio ... birria.htmIt's been years since I've found it in Puget Sound, and can't remember where I saw it on the menu. Even most Mexican restaurants make Birria de Res (beef) instead of chivo (goat), if they offer it at all. Dang it, now you have officially got my itch going and I'm going to have to find a place to scratch it soon. If I find a place that serves it I'll post in case you want to go try it.

The Indian restaurant on 6th Ave in Tacoma has goat pretty regularly, I am not 100% on the cooking but it seems to be stewed and It's Always tasty.
They do A daily lunch buffet, lots to chose from and decently priced.

Sorry JB pooch has been sleeping for 2 yrs, think you ment the neighbors
Well as you mention nothing great about it. made some stew garlic, carrots, potatoes, corn peas and mushroom and of course the goat. Came out kind of like dinty moore. Just another meat. Might try and make some curry next time.
What's the name of that Indian place off 6th ave? I'd like to give it a try.
