Found out yesterday that the cadaver ligament tissue graft transplanted into my right ankle in May has begun to devitalize (fail). Meaning that I'll be having another surgery to replace the graft next Thursday. Meaning that I'll be taking some whopping painkillers between now and then, and even more whopping painkillers after the surgery, and if there's one thing I know for sure, it's that phonebanking whilst on heavy-duty narcotics is a bad, bad idea.

I did order (and pay for) six months' access to voting records from the office of the Secretary of State, so if someone else wants to pick up this ball and run with it, that'd be great. Thank you Jaime, Steve, Ben and Sted9r for being willing to phonebank--the rest of you (yes, I'm looking at you, Dan), I don't want to hear any whining when I-594 passes.

The only conversations I have that make any sense, are the ones I have with myself.
Besides, not matter how much I've tried, I'm still unable to choke anyone through a phone, and I've tried often......
I'll do my part, already have, an ensure family, friends and relatives are on the same page an stick with 591. But cold calling isn't my strong points.

Jennifer, I'm sorry to hear about your ankle. So what happens now? Do they put another cadaver ligament in there, or is there an alternate solution?

I tried phone banking but I couldn't get the phone to fit into the ATM.....

What does it feel like to have a part of a dead person in you? Mentally not physically. To me it's creepy.

I can still support except when I can't. If I'm not traveling I will do it.

My surgeon will put another cadaver ligament in there--I have stupidly stretchy ligaments, he described them as "bungee cords" to the rest of the world's "ropes". Which totally explains why I can still do the splits at nearly 36. Apparently I missed my true calling as a porn star.

As far as it being creepy? Not in the least. I've already had cadaver tendon placed in my right wrist (surgery to correct DeQuervain's tenosynovitis, in 2009). Dead is dead is dead, and whomever previously used that ligament, doesn't need it anymore. I plan to have myself parted out after I die, anyway. Does it work? Yes? Take it. That's pretty much my attitude.

Jaime, thank you for being willing to do the phone bank. It might turn out to be a good thing to be making calls in August, as ballots go out a minimum of 20 days before the election, and we want the issue to be fresh in voter's mind when those things land in their mailboxes.

Agreed. I was going to suggest that, anyhow.

I think it's better to strike at ballot time. If we hit them too early, they'll forget about us and then get swayed by the millions of dollars of pro-594 ads that will be run . . . .
