Question for truck drivers

I've found myself in the trucking business delivering furniture. As far as I'm aware, operating a vehicle under 26,001 lbs GVWR does not requre a CDL. 26,000 and under is good to go. So I'm good to go in my 16 foot box truck rated at 14,000 GVWR. The 24 foot box truck is rated at exactly 26,000 lbs GVWR, not CDL worthy based on weight but there's a twist. The 24 footer has air brakes.

Here's my question: Where do air brakes come into play in terms of licensing?

The 16 foot truck has hydraulic brakes, but the 24 foot truck has air brakes.

Does operating a vehicle under 26,001 lbs GVWR with air brakes requre an air brake endorsement? Or is that endorsement only for operating vehicles 26,001 lbs GVWR or more equipped with air brakes? AKA does it apply only to vehicles that require a CDL based on GVWR? Or does it also apply to any vehicle that wouldn't require a CDL based on gross vehicle weight?

Class C Cdl with air-brake endorsement. Had the same issue when I worked for Apria with the NPR Trucks....

I drove an armored truck, air brakes and 26,000. Didn't need anything.

I had this same question at work. As long as the GVW is under 26,001 it doesn't matter if it has air brakes or not as dan360s links show.
