Fishing charter recommendations - Puget Sound / Juan De Fuca

My dad is coming for a visit in August and he is an avid fisherman. He's looking for a decent charter boat for fishing in the Ocean/Strait/Sound area. He's looking for possibly salmon or halibut, or whatever is in season. He's experienced (East coast boat owner, and fished all over the world) and just needs a good captain to take him to the fish. Anyone have any good recommendations for him?

For Wesport, my favorite is Advantage Charters. Geoff Grillo http://advantagecharters.com/ 800-689-5595

Hula Girl is good people, too.

I don't know any guys up off the Strait or Anacortes, etc. Sorry....

Sea Angel, Hula Girl, Tequilla Too, Gold Rush are all great boats out of Westport. I've been fishing out of Westport three times this year, brought home a lot of kings and silvers so far. Westport Charters 360-268-0900 for the Sea Angel, Hula Girl and Gold Rush. Big charter boats with 15-20 fishermen.

Heading up to the Straights, Mike Jamboritz, Jambo's sport fishing. 206-595-9526. BOOK EARLY 6-pack charter

Puget Sound, Matt (aka Gilley) http://www.tyeecharters.net/ phone is on the website. 6-pack charter.

I would choose Jambo first, then Westport for fishing numbers. Really try for a trip with Jambo if Mike has an opening.

Halibut is closed unless your dad wants to go through the hassle of getting a canadian license (for a Jambo trip). Salmon is open. Ling cod and bottom fish are also open.

Tell any of them that Andy the banker sent you. JAMBO. Really.

I think one of our members here does charters..... or maybe just a die-hard fisherman. Nitroguns. I recall from memory talking to him at the gunshow, but can't remember the full details.

edit: yah, its Nitro_guns . www.nwfishingcharters.com i think. Search members, he is like the second or third down on "N".

Just a suggestion anyway, I try to keep things in the family. I have never fished with him, but he was a nice guy to talk to at the gunshow.

He's coming in mid-August. I'm sure he's happy to chase whatever is in season just for the opportunity to add another location to his fishing bucket list.

Thanks for the recommendations so far. I will let him know.

Yeah NitroGuns used to own GameFishin, but then passed it off. Yeah right now is prime time for Kings!
