Friday, Tommy Ramone the last surviving original member of The Ramones died. He had been in hospice care for cancer of his bile duct. These guys all were pioneers, ahead of their time. This is a true loss to the music world. I"m unable to link the story, if anyone would like to help.

Yeah it's sad. He was the brains behind that band early on too. Definitely a loss.

RIP Tommy, and another piece of my childhood gone. I forced my kids to watch the movie 'Rock and Roll High School' so they could understand a little bit of The Ramones, albeit a fucked-up Hollywood version of what the writers thought they were.
My kids didn't get it. Dammit.

When I was at Idaho State I helped set up for the band when they came to town about 1980ish.

I am originally from NY, I grew up listening to them and seeing them play a lot. My next door neighbor is (was) Johnny (Cummings) Ramones cousin. They would go over to his house every once in a while and play in his yard. I used to see them at local dive bars in Queens and on the island, and there was always CBGB's in the city when I was younger. Still one of my all time favorite bands. I think its cool that they were pretty well known out here. R I P Tommy.

Thanks Ric. I have been away from my computer for the last week trying to navigate my phone. Cut and paste I have yet to figure out on that thing.
