Group interested in hiring a trainer in Renton?

Fri Jul 25, 2014 10:45 pm

Hi, I'm new here. I was wondering if there are others interested in hiring a professional firearms consultant in the Renton area. As a listener of TSP, I was specifically thinking about Frank Sharpe Jr. If anyone has other suggestions, especially someone more local, all the better.

On the same token, does anyone know if Renton Fish & Game would be willing to host someone like this. I live nearby, and have been thinking about joining anyway. If they offered a day or weekend class of this caliber (pun definitely intended) that would seal the deal on at least one, years dues.

Waguns is an awesome resource, thanks to all.

Not a fan of Renton Fish and Game, didn't necessarily have bad experiences however it is not one I would choose for doing training with all the rules they have. I haven't been but some friends said Issaquah is a little more lenient with magazine capacity for rifle calibers.

I would talk to Renton Fish and Game as well and see if they would be on board for something of this nature before creating a membership.

What can a "firearm consultant" provide me?

That is a good question, gold digger. Can anyone weigh in on experience with a trainer?

Personally I find that I'm quite content trying to make the smallest pattern on a paper target while at the range.

I would want a trainer to teach me how to do more than just make a small pattern, and become a more accurate shooter in non-ideal scenarios. I would assume this would involve how to train with reactive targets, how to simulate stress and how to find and use cover.

I'm a newb, and want to become a more affective gun operator. I don't have any formal training and I don't have time to train for things like 3 gun competitions. I think I could probably afford a weekend or 3 day session, especially if the focus was on how to train yourself after the class ends.

Maybe a took the bait on Frank's webpage?

What do you think?

There are at least three very good schools/instructors already in the area.

LMS Defense http://www.lmsdefense.com/index.html Kevin Williams is the local instructor. Good guy. I've been to their pistol course, and some friends have done the carbine course.
