http://technolog.msnbc.msn.com/_news/20 ... ain=usnews From my understanding, the CIA site hasn't been hacked, but taken down through a denial of service attack, or DoS attack (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denial-of-service_attack). Basically, so many computers are attempting to access the website that the servers fail. Regardless, it can potentially happen to any website (perhaps not Google?). Pretty meaningless, in the end. |

Google has amazing set of defenses against DDoS. Basically, its backends take over terminating the connection, and now you are against...can't tell you :-), it's a secret... how many computers. No system in the world can muster enough force to DDoS Google.
