My, how times change! I love reading the old PS, PM, MI... I have a pretty decent collection of them, and the outdated stuff like that is some of my favorite.

My dad was an auto mechanic. I can't even calculate, how many gallons of used oil we dumped into a hole in the ground. Could probably dig a,well at the old homestead and make a mint.

My dad made a used oil burner for the garage. Last heard, one couldn't burn used oil anymore. Not sure how true that is, but it seems like something this government would do.

You can still use them, but like wood stoves the are supposed to be certified so they burn clean. A properly built oil burner puts off low emissions. A messed up or improperly made/homemade oil burner can make some nasty exhaust. Nasty enough you would not want it floating around your property.

I don’t remember any bad fumes and he was an old farmer so imagine it was pretty efficient. The garage was uninsulated and was warm when that was running. One night after working on the stock car and him and his buddies passing a jug of his booze around he bet me a nickel he could have most of them asleep in a little bit. He cranked up the flow and sure enough, they was all asleep! He let me keep my nickel.
