Don't ya think it's time that ya worry about something that affects ALL the people instead of 11%?

#1 Iran: that's a debate for another thread. Tom Cotton wants us to bomb Tehran and doesn't see any problem with the idea. No thanks.
#2 National debt: We've spent the last 15 years and a couple trillion dollars killing brown people in countries that don't particularly like us without solving anything. Neither party is absolved of responsibility here. We need a foreign policy that doesn't involve bombing or invading everybody in the world who does things we don't like. See point #1
#3 Gun rights: absolutely agree.
But by all means, keep insinuating that I'm gay. It's starting to turn me on.

On October 23, 2001, Republican Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner introduced H.R. 3162 incorporating provisions from a previously sponsored House bill and a Senate bill also introduced earlier in the month.[4] The next day on October 24, 2001, the Act passed the House 357 to 66,[5] with Democrats comprising the overwhelming portion of dissent. The following day, on October 25, 2001, the Act passed the Senate by 98 to 1.[6]
On May 26, 2011, President Barack Obama signed the PATRIOT Sunsets Extension Act of 2011, a four-year extension of three key provisions in the USA PATRIOT Act:[2] roving wiretaps, searches of business records (the "library records provision"), and conducting surveillance of "lone wolves"—individuals suspected of terrorist-related activities not linked to terrorist groups.[3]

The Patriot Act and the ongoing "War on Terror" have been two of the most destructive forces ever unleashed on our economy, our freedoms, our privacy, and our international standing.

Yes, you won't end up voting for a winning candidate.
But your conscience can be clean.
cycle61 wrote:Classic wrote:Then why vote at all? If the person doesn't have a chance in hell of winning you are wasting a vote. Yes you can say "don't blame me because I didn't vote for that asshole" but if ya didn't vote you could say the same thing and you would have saved the postage stamp. Sadly sometimes you have to vote for the lessor of 2 evils and ya cant get much worse than Hillary because Obammy can't run again and Carter is too old
And this is why we don't have a viable third party. Because so many people think as you described.

Sigh...that is so reductionist it's not even funny. Maybe if "small government" politicians and so-called libertarians stopped legislating marriages, bedroom activities and women's bodies - more people (including young urban dwellers, gay couples and women) would vote more conservatively (or would be less compelled to vote for Hillary). I fucking hate Hillary but I certainly have no love for a two-faced "Republican" that would have their ass handed to them by Barry Goldwater.

And gun owners tend to use a very specific litmus test to evaluate politicians as well.
Not saying it's wrong to do so, but voters who determine their candidates based on any single issue tend to have highly polarized viewpoints.
I'll continue to vote for whoever actually represents smaller, less intrusive government and supports everybody's rights.
Find me a candidate who supports allowing gay married couples to defend their marijuana plants with automatic weapons.
Currently, that excludes the Democratic party and the GOP.

Agreed. And they'll keep losing my vote until they move more.
(The GOP)
Gun rights and marriage equality are both key issues for me. I cannot in good conscience support anybody who stands against either of those.

Fact, you never will have a viable 3rd party in this century so again ya gotta vote for the lessor of 2 evils

Barry Goldwater has been dead for 20 years and has never been president. WTF does he have to do with the price of tea in china?
