Don't ya think it's time that ya worry about something that affects ALL the people instead of 11%?

Equal rights affects all the people.

Not just the ones who agree with the majority.

PS: African Americans are 13.1% of the population. I support their rights too.

Gay marriage is happening in 37 states which basically Washington was a ground breaker. Dude, that's old news and only 11% of the population are gay. Iran having nukes can kill everyone. The National Debt affects 100%. The 2nd amendment affects every US citizen. Ya need to look at the BIG picture and not some dudes ass

And we all know that blacks have no rights... Wait, who's in the whitehouse?

Iran can't nuke enough to kill everybody. The major nuclear powers that can are well behaved with their weapons. I doubt Iran could even successfully detonate a hostile nuke without it being intercepted.

Ever hear of the trade winds and nuclear winter? Me either

Gay marriage is happening in 37 states despite consistent GOP opposition. I'm saying that they're going to continue losing this battle, but until they give it up they will not have my vote.

#1 Iran: that's a debate for another thread. Tom Cotton wants us to bomb Tehran and doesn't see any problem with the idea. No thanks.

#2 National debt: We've spent the last 15 years and a couple trillion dollars killing brown people in countries that don't particularly like us without solving anything. Neither party is absolved of responsibility here. We need a foreign policy that doesn't involve bombing or invading everybody in the world who does things we don't like. See point #1

#3 Gun rights: absolutely agree.

But by all means, keep insinuating that I'm gay. It's starting to turn me on. :inlove:

So all the hundreds of nukes detonated since 1945 haven't caused nuclear winter, but a mideast shithole can?

1) So all 37 states that approved it must be DEM controlled...
2) Bush was a terrible pres because in his last 2 years he didn't veto any of the crap that the democrats pushed through. 2 years prior to Obammy the national debt was 7.t trillion and when Bush left office it was 9.35 trillion. IT'S DOUBLE THAT NOW
3) Finally

Not necessarily Dem controlled. Just not red enough to keep denying people equal legal recognition.

The Patriot Act and the ongoing "War on Terror" have been two of the most destructive forces ever unleashed on our economy, our freedoms, our privacy, and our international standing. Again, both parties complicit. The vote on the Patriot act was 235-1 or some ridiculous shit.

Edit for quick fact-checking:

On October 23, 2001, Republican Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner introduced H.R. 3162 incorporating provisions from a previously sponsored House bill and a Senate bill also introduced earlier in the month.[4] The next day on October 24, 2001, the Act passed the House 357 to 66,[5] with Democrats comprising the overwhelming portion of dissent. The following day, on October 25, 2001, the Act passed the Senate by 98 to 1.[6]

On May 26, 2011, President Barack Obama signed the PATRIOT Sunsets Extension Act of 2011, a four-year extension of three key provisions in the USA PATRIOT Act:[2] roving wiretaps, searches of business records (the "library records provision"), and conducting surveillance of "lone wolves"—individuals suspected of terrorist-related activities not linked to terrorist groups.[3]

Atomics and nukes are 2 different animals. The tests are all underground..... Saudi, Israel, Pakistan immediately come to mind as having nuclear power. You honestly think that if one of these guys shoot, the others wont? This is the cold war all over again but in the middle east instead of us and russia

And I didn't see Obammy get rid of either even when they controlled the house and senate.

I'm seeing the POT calling the kettle black..........

As added to my post above:

This, along with the persistent secrecy of the administration that promised to be the "most transparent white house ever" infuriates me as well. I'm standing here in the middle pointing fingers at both sides.

Yes, you won't end up voting for a winning candidate.

But your conscience can be clean.

Yes you can say "don't blame me because I didn't vote for that asshole" but if ya didn't vote you could say the same thing and you would have saved the postage stamp. Sadly sometimes you have to vote for the lessor of 2 evils and ya cant get much worse than Hillary because Obammy can't run again and Carter is too old

And this is why we don't have a viable third party. Because so many people think as you described.

Sigh...that is so reductionist it's not even funny. Maybe if "small government" politicians and so-called libertarians stopped legislating marriages, bedroom activities and women's bodies - more people (including young urban dwellers, gay couples and women) would vote more conservatively (or would be less compelled to vote for Hillary). I fucking hate Hillary but I certainly have no love for a two-faced "Republican" that would have their ass handed to them by Barry Goldwater.

Made myself clear in this one too.

And gun owners tend to use a very specific litmus test to evaluate politicians as well.

Not saying it's wrong to do so, but voters who determine their candidates based on any single issue tend to have highly polarized viewpoints.

I'll continue to vote for whoever actually represents smaller, less intrusive government and supports everybody's rights.

Find me a candidate who supports allowing gay married couples to defend their marijuana plants with automatic weapons.

Currently, that excludes the Democratic party and the GOP.

Agreed. And they'll keep losing my vote until they move more.

(The GOP)

Gun rights and marriage equality are both key issues for me. I cannot in good conscience support anybody who stands against either of those.

Fact, you never will have a viable 3rd party in this century so again ya gotta vote for the lessor of 2 evils

The only thing in there worth responding was the quote about the lesser of two evils.

No.

I will not do so. I will continue to do my part to drive a wedge into the cracks in the monolith that is the American political system.

I am unlikely to succeed, but if enough of us do it, it begins to send a message.

Gary Johnson got just under 1% of the popular vote in 2012. What's it take to make a difference?
