Any gun friendly shrinks in Oly area?

Long story short, depression and PTSD keep getting to me, is there a good shrink in oly area that is gun friendly? Bonus points I'm stuck on shitty state offered obamacare shit.

No... not military. Just good old fashioned child abuse and associated trauma. My left leg doesn't work right, just to give an idea of the stuff that fucked me up.

Honest question. Dont want to derail. Fell free to tell me to get out of here. If you know youre depressed or anxious, or what have you, what gopd does talking to a schrink do? Ive never been but I always thought they more helped diagnose. Sounds like you are aware, isnt that most the battle?

Sorry, I can't offer any suggestions, but I will say that if you recognize that you have a problem then you're doing the right thing by looking for a willing ear.

Best of luck to you for finding help. Finding a 2A Friendly psych would be very nice, but I would be wary of any psych when it comes to discussing my mental health and firearms.. Especially on ObamaCare..

When I was five I saw my father pull a gun on my mother.
The asshole she married afterwards was an angry, abusive nut who dishonored the USMC uniform he once wore simply by existing.
The next 12 years of verbal and emotional abuse were bad. The physical abuse made it worse. I can't remember how many times he just shoved me to the ground and started kicking me around. This ended when I got bigger than him, but the physical and mental damage was done by then. I have a more or less pronounced limp on my left side since I was nine. The one time I reached out to CPS in grade school did nothing, and I was bullied into recanting my statements. To this day I loathe CPS because they were supposed to be the last line of defense according to all the propaganda in grade school and nothing ever happened, despite sufficient evidence and warning signs to have triggered an investigation even after I withdrew my statement.
I've talked to a few guys here before having rough times, I just thought I'd be able to keep my own hell locked up, but it's not sane or healthy to do so. Meh. Honestly, my cat has kept me from quitting my job and just living in the woods or something. The bright light is I may be able to soon make a go as a ghost writer which would make me very happy.

Talking about it is good. I know of a group down there in Oly that can help overcome the "baggage" from abuse, but it does have a bit of a religious bent. If you're interested, let me know. I know some folks it has helped.

Talking about stuff always helps. Plus that sounds like some serious shit to deal with, so I would hope you seek professional help even more.
Are you concerned about a diagnosis that would blacklist you from gun ownership? A diagnosis of depression, or even PTSD, shouldn't immediately ban you from owning guns unless the psychologist seems to feel you are unfit to manage your own affairs and are a danger to yourself or others. At that point, gun friendly or not, I imagine most shrinks would do the same thing.
I've seen therapists on and off for anxiety and depression issues and most seemed to feel that sports shooting was good stress relief for me.
Oh yea: it is absolutely okay to jump from shrink to shrink. Its vital that you can form a good rapport with your therapist (I don't mean you have to be like best buds or anything, but it needs to be a trusting relationship), if you've given one a couple of months (say 8 sessions?) and you don't like them, think they're a tool, whatever, then just move on.
