To get this thread back on track...I've now filed DMCA takedown notices for 6 of 11 stories with Google, a total of >100 sites had/have one or more of my pieces posted, unattributed and without my express permission, most appearing to be just lifted wholesale, some with minor changes (character names, sentence swaps). Google moves fast; in less than two days they've either removed the content or the site itself has gone poof! It's a good feeling, to know that Google is on top of this sort of thing (probably not as good a feeling as reading one of my stories--I'd suggest "Tension" or "Neighbours"--will generate for you, though

And as to the malware/adware issue, yes, probably something I picked up looking for my stories posted on other sites, and running malwarebytes has fixed the issue.
