Give them a syringe with the best ride they could take. Save the tax payers a bunch of money.

Yup. If they decide sucking and taking it up the wazzooo isn't their thing put them in a bullet proof room with a 12 gauge. After leaving the room let the guard pass them one 00 buck shot through a one way passage for them to EAT as their last meal

I think people should have the right to die.

That includes terminally ill patients.
That includes someone who is sentenced to life in prison.

Hell, even if someone got 20-30 years and decides they'd rather die, who are we to say no?

I think any person of sound mind should have the right to end their life.

The argument is "why would anyone of sound mind want to end their life?" 7 cents worth of lead take the bureaucracy out of it...

They are convicted felons. They are in jail for x amount of time, to be punished and kept away from society.
It costs more to house one of these fine outstanding citizens than I make in a year.
Don't let them die, instead... put them to work. Hard ass labor.
Have 'em cleaning out septic tanks, digging ditches, making gravel from big rocks, I don't care.
They don't deserve the easy way out.

if convicted should be 1 month before they die

no such thing as life without parole.

if found to be wrongly convicted and killed family gets a million

need to be more accountable for your crimes. society is pamering the criminals

Terminal illness, incurable disease that will leave them suffering, locked up in prison for the rest of their life. Severe injury or disability that destroys quality of life... the answer is different for everyone. I know that if I had incurable cancer, and was finally at the point of needing hospice treatment, or was facing alzheimer's, I'd rather end it before I just became an object sitting around to die. I've watched people die of cancer, and it seems pointless to sit around unplugged from all lifesupport, sucking down morphine and knowing you *will* die soon, when you could take the right combination of medication and end it on your own terms.

We put our pets down when their lives become too full of pain and suffering. Why don't we allow ourselves to do the same?

So you're saying that a person should be put to death a month after conviction and if it's later found that they are innocent, oh well! Here family, have a million dollars?

Just had to repeat that to make sure I'm hearing it right... I'm all about the death penalty and in almost all cases I agree that it takes far too long to carry the full extent of those sentences out but... There are many documented cases of wrongful convictions with sentences that carry the penalty of death.

Your position seems very draconian and not very well thought out...

As far as giving criminals a choice to end their own lives?

The fiscally responsible side of me wants to agree because holy shit does it cost alot of money...

However the other side of me says...

No goddamned criminal sentenced to life or the death penalty should be given ANY choice about ANYTHING... The people they hurt weren't given the choice to be victimized, so why are we going to be in the business of giving the perpetrator a choice to take the fast and quick?

One side of me says they should be locked in a hole with an hour of daylight a day and fed bread water and a multivitamin.

The other side of me says that we as a nation of laws and values grounded in morality shouldn't ever stoop to the level of barbarism even against those who visit atrocities against us the most...

As hard as it is to swallow, and as much as the vengeful, animal side of me wants to say, the truth is that we must always take the hard right over the easy wrong...

You said "swallow" *giggle*

Also, that is one of the best damned things I've read on here in regards to crime and punishment in a loooong fucking time.

Nope. They are sentenced to life without the possibility of parole, saves the taxpayers money (no, seriously, look it up) and gives them them no easy escape--only the prospect of waking up every single day to the same nightmare.

I actually like this better.

But we need to add like mandatory beatings for child molesters/abusers/rapists.
