Air Force Vets arrested for trying to stop flag protest...

Air Force veteran Michelle Manhart was arrested yesterday when she tried to prevent protesters at a Georgia college from trampling on the American flag.
No charges for her except she is banned from returning to campus...
I say deport the protesters asses and send them to where ever they want to go (one way)! Loss of citizenship and no return back to the US.
As a Vet. I would die for that Flag and I would kill for it (war)...
There are other ways to protest... It's our god given right as a US Citizen to protest... but remember that Flag has blood of the men and women that... gives you those rights.
So, here's to Michelle Manhart!

So she tried to prevent people from exercising a clearly defined first amendment right? Tsk, tsk. Unpopular speech is protected too yano.

Uummm, I going to say you never served (in any military unit)... Just a wild guess.
True. In the mid 2000's it almost came under law to desecrate the US Flag... but alas... civilians... Sitting in their comfy homes... making decisions that they don't have to "pay."

Here we go with the elitist thing again.

Who cares if I have or haven't? The answer is no. I was barely under the height max when I was going to enlist and I got fed up with the bullfuckery the recruiter was throwing at me to fill his quota of high scoring recruits that month. I'd have needed a waiver to stay in a year later anyway, so near as I can tell it would have all been a wash. I'm sorry, this isn't a Heinleinesque world where military service makes you More Equal. Free speech is free speech is free speech. Quite frankly, I would argue if you have to protect any symbol against destruction, then you've lost the freedom battle, because now you've created things that are beyond reproach and can bring the full force and power of the state to ensure that unpopular ideas are not expressed. That is a dangerous and scary road to travel on.
A pity us terrible civilians don't want a world where a colored piece of cloth is protected by the power of the state. My patriotism can live without symbols and it can live with those symbols being damaged by others. Your mileage may vary, batteries not included. Void where prohibited by law.

So I'm figuring you didn't serve either...
I'm sorry you didn't "serve." I'm sorry you have all the rights and privileges of all the men and women that have.
It's easy for you to say.... who cares. Only those that have not "served" would say those words. And you just proved that.

Aaaaand you just proved that you are the reason why the military is strictly subordinate to the civil authority.
Here, General Colin Powell had a few thoughts about this topic. I'd love to see how you denounce him.
“The First Amendment exists to insure that freedom of speech and expression applies not just to that with which we agree or disagree, but also that which we find outrageous. I would not amend that great shield of democracy to hammer a few miscreants. The flag will still be flying proudly long after they have slunk away.” [Letter to Sen. Patrick Leahy, 5/18/99]

A dude's view from Facebook. I actually agree with this guy....
Here's the Woman who was "arrested" for interfering in defense of the colors at the flag protest recently that everyone is so "outraged" about. Mrs. Michelle Manhart, former Airman and evidently a very classy mother of 4, sexy as fuck and a Veteran, awesome right? WRONG.
Fucking colors on the deck...fuck my...anyway Miss vain infinite asshole here, I mean Mrs. Manhart was unceremoniously booted from a promising career in the USAF after ignoring the multiple warnings from her chain of command...and instead chose to disobey orders and pose in Playboy, which got her Das Boot! Then she did years of photo shoots like this bullshit photo attached and once the 15 minutes ran out I guess became yet another "Super Patriot" with a 'sexy twist...because we know those poor SHOT show aficionados suffer under the weighty lack of vapid gun models in that industry right?
Fuckery begets Fuckery. Yes burning or disrespecting the flag in a rally or anywhere is absolutely distasteful. More importantly however...those acts... it's Constitutionally protected Free Speech. I'm not sure how sending a promiscuous patriot with plastic protrusions to "rescue" fabric from citizens exercising their rights leading up to her arrest helped...anything.
Save and stow your fucking "outrage", you're embarrassing me. She's a self absorbed fruit bat. If she were an ice cream flavor she'd be pralines and Dick.

As much as it hurts me to see someone one doing this, I'm all for burning the American Flag. That's what America stands for....Freedom.
You have the right to burn the American Flag because of those brave men and women who gave you the right to "Free Speech".
If this was China, North Korea, or Germany back in 1943....I'm sure you would spend several years in a labor camp or maybe even killed.
My grandpa severed in WWII and I spent 15 in the Marine Corps Reserves. I took an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.....which includes "Freedom of Speech"....burning the American Flag...is your right...and I will protect our "Freedom of Speech" until the day that I die. Semper Fi
By Denis Edward O‘Brien, Sergeant, USMC
It is the Marine, not the reporter, who has given us the freedom of the press. It is the Marine, not the poet, who has given us the freedom of speech. It is the Marine, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the Marine, who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag.

Huh. Show enough bare female flesh, and messing with the flag becomes ok.

As you noted... it's okay anyways...
I'm a man with lots of weaknesses...
Damn it! I should of gone Air Force!

It is ok in my book, and by the letter and spirit of the law and Bill of Rights. I'm still waiting to hear your commentary on General Powell's thoughts on the matter, or a number of other noted veterans who agreed it was protected speech. When a symbol becomes so important that you have to undermine the basic legal principles of a nation to defend it, that nation and those who support those laws have gone off track and are no longer in touch with the founding ideals of the country.
