Tractors were probably quite expensive at that time and considering what they had just gone through a few years earlier I bet farmers didn't want to risk the money, when they already had what they needed to get the job done.

I would have colored the sacks another color besides wheat brown. I'd hate to be the guy to have to find all of them. Cool piece of machinery.

Ehhh tractors were expensive, but so were massive teams of horses, and for a long time, during harvest season, owners of large tractors would travel from farm to farm and hire out their services. Steam tractors got around a lot that way. It's an interesting film simply because it shows the closing out of an era, and just how long it really took to fully mechanize farming in this country. Hell, the farmer might not have even had electrical power going to his farm.
