This guy is being hailed as having great restraint.

Was just going to post this...
'Shoot Me!': Cop Refuses to Fire in Tense Encounter With Murder SuspectApparently the officer was informed over the radio that the suspect likely wanted to be killed by suicide by cop. It doesn't appear the suspect had any weapons on him at the time. Yes, I definitely think the suspect got a little too close for comfort, but I think the officer made the right choice considering the circumstances. It seems clear the suspect was only trying to incite fire from the officer, as he had numerous opportunities to close the gap and didn't.

Subject was trying to Suicide by cop.
Subject says in video, "Do you want me to shoot you?" in response to officer saying 'I'm not going to shoot you."
Subject keeps hand in right jacket pocket like he has a weapon.
Full string of video unchopped.

He probably needs some serious time behind bars and some mental health treatment.
The cop had every right to light him up, but that thing called "instinct" told him maybe not to. In most people that instinct usually is worth listening to. Something about the whole scene told him that he shouldn't shoot, so he didn't. This is what we call "good work" and lucky.

He got lucky indeed.
Yes, officer "should" of shot.
Any investigator would agree - charging BG on video was a threat.

I can agree to a point.
Its all about how the officer feels at the moment.
If this had been in WA,
The situation met several requirements of justified homicide by a public officer.
http://apps.leg.wa.gov/Rcw/default.aspx?cite=9A.16.040However, it boils down, did you fear for your life or others? Information given by dispatch and body language most likely played a huge role in this officers decision to not fire. Sure, some will argue that he would have done society a favor or he that posed a "threat" but that is up to the officers condition and decision.
I've never taken a life but I've drawn and was ready to fire if I had lost control of the situation again. The other party posed a threat that I felt a draw was equal to. And the detective assigned to the case felt the same way I guess, otherwise I would have been behind bars.

Everyone is alive... So that's good.. But..
Back pedaling as far as he did.... Falling down as he did... Letting him charge.
Sometimes the right choice and wrong choice are one in the same..
