Damn, I got screened out because I had my Mosin ammo spam can opener. I had to just toss it. I had stuffed in a deep pocket in some bag I had when I went long range shooting out near Lake Chelan.
But that's a tough one. Actually carrying your carry firearm. Oops!
A loaded gun was found Wednesday at a Sea-Tac International Airport security checkpoint – the 15th found there this year.
The .380 caliber Ruger LCP was loaded with six rounds of ammunition and had an additional round in the chamber when it was found with a man ticketed to travel to Phoenix. The passenger also had an additional magazine with six rounds of ammunition, according to authorities. He was cited on a state charge.

Why don't they say if the man was licensed to carry the firearm? Given the limited information, it feels more like an "oops" than a terrorist. I mean, if you were out to do some evil, would an LCP and 13 rounds of .380 be your tool of choice?

Ask Gavrilo Princip. (Nobody knows for certain if it was a 32 or 380, the point stands though)

Really doesn't matter. In the sense it was not a "terror" thing.
Most likely he did have a CPL as he was carrying. Just forgot... oops
What matters is that "one" can not carry a firearm through TSA. (unless you have the Federal or right paperwork).
Remember your Washington State issued CPL (concealed pistol license) is only good for State and those States that recognize it. It's not valid on a Federal Level. Also applies to Federal Installations (Military Posts, Federal Buildings to include Social Security, etc).

From what I understand, Princip and his group had several handguns, and the chain of evidence as to which one was the assassination weapon was broken.

I'm sorry, but "Ooops! Sorry I forgot I was armed" is not an excuse. Ever!
Unless it was an emergency trip somewhere, he knew he was going to the airport that morning when he got up.
Its the carrier's responsibility to comply with the laws s/he will encounter that day.
This is the kind of owner that scares me more than the criminal element. They are unobservant enough to forget they are armed?...What happens in an emergency?
They see a person draw a gun and drop someone else...then they think.."oh I have a gun...I can stop that guy from shooting anyone else!"
Since they weren't paying attention in the first place, they missed the fact that the guy they saw with a gun, is actually a good guy who dropped the actual bad guy.
Being armed carries with the responsibility to pay attention to the world around you and deploy the firearm at the right time, for the right reasons.
I'm guessing that this is a felony on his record now...so we probably don't have to worry about getting shoot by his inattentive ass.

So do you s'pose he just bellied up to the checkpoint and dropped his keys, wallet, cell phone and LCP into the little basket?
Or did he stroll into the metal detector or scanner, and then the lights started flashing?
I like the first option. I'd love to see the TSA crew when that happens.

In my head...
He did #1.
Then the TSA agent loudly said, "Gun!" And dipshits response was to think, "Gun? I better pull mine so I don.....OH! oops! Shit!"
"Oh sorry guys! My bad! I forgot I...HEY! Why are you all pointing guns at me?"
Obtuse fucker.

it's not that difficult for it to happen to anyone... not an excuse just stating things...
I have spare mags in my coat pockets and one time at the airport I luckily checked my pockets to find a loaded magazine in one of them.. luckily my aunt was with us sending us off and I handed it to her for safekeeping...
that said, in the USA, it's not a big deal if you do this, you go to court, prove your not a terrorist and get a fine...
outside the USA, you get caught with one live round and you are put in the slammer to face a judge and you'll be lucky if you just get a fine..

I understand no excuse, my point was simply that it becomes a lot less news worthy in it's portrayal by the media. Not very good as click bait if it's an oops.

I went through Seatac last month going to lad Vegas, Las Vegas TSA found 3 bullets that Seatac didn't catch. You would be surprised what slips by.

I wouldn't
I've flown 3x in the past couple years, and each time I've had improvised weapons with me...
TSA is a fucking joke.
The last time I brought a stabbing tool, a choking tool, and a device to smash a hole in your skull, and enough material to heat a hole in the side of the aircraft ....
All A-OK, by TSA standards.
They're a fucking joke.
