I'm getting close to buying a ram 2500.. I need it to haul my boat and a cargo trailer over several months down to AZ as I slowly move out of WA.

after the move, it's probably going to not be used much for long haul towing, other than take the boat to the lake once a month or so.. and possibly a 5th wheel later on in life...

anyway, I'm intrigued by the rambox... looks like a nifty idea, but it's pricey at 1300$.. and it makes the bed non-standard so caps and tonneau covers become limited...

I really thought I was getting a diesel but in the end, I am going to get a hemi as I won't be driving it enough to clean the emissions system regularly... the lake is 25 miles away and other than that everything is less than 5 miles away... I know I'll be getting 6mpg towing stuff uphill but I won't be doing that often enough to worry about it.. then again, I may end up with an oil burner once i hit the dealer... we all know how that goes with test drives...

on the plus side -- work will be 1.6 miles from my driveway.. I may end up just biking to work as the cars won't reach operating temp in 4 minutes.

there's a part of me that still wants to consider the power wagon though... it's basically a rubicon on a 3/4 ton truck chassis...

That's actually an option as az is not as strict with emission stuff... 8 grand more though

Brand new ones are considerably more difficult to bypass the emission controls on.

For a part time puller, you will be just fine with the gas engine.

No direct experience with the Ram Box as most people I know opt for a cross bed tool box and/or did saddle tool boxes. It is a neat idea but comes at the cost of limited access when hauling.

If I was in the market for a ram I'd get the rambox option, I don't run a tonneau cover and don't like how tool boxes take up room. It sucks trying to get my straps out from under child safety seats. That and I'd be able to run a sub and amp under the seat. Damn time to get a new truck.
