So apparently Tuesday we have a company wide mandatory meeting.. The email says exciting news... I'm scared.. EDIT*** http://www.universalpro.com/is the company that purchased our company due to our company having financial problems. Still have a job so.. Upside... Huge company with 45k+ employees.. Huge upside for growth and promotions.. Cheaper health insurance, 401k retirement.. Company is on pace to make 1.4 billion on revenue.. So... all in all this is good!

I used to work in a software company (not IniTech) at Irvine Spectrum Technology Park in Southern California. We had a site wide meeting where our new CEO castigated us for wanting to be 'wage slaves'... Must be nice when you can grant yourself and your executive cronies tens of thousands of stock shares at a penny a piece....
Probably nothing to worry about... I now work at a large tech corporation. Our HR is so tight there are hardly ever any impending layoff rumours until people start getting hit in the ass by the door on the way out... Most companies are not so tight and the rumour mill runs in high gear and almost everyone knows before a layoff starts happening...

Hi Brad try not to sweat it... Easier said than done I know but all of those things are out of your control... We frequently have site wide meetings at our company, most of which are fairly mundane... Mergers/acquisitions are tough... Sometimes they can bring opportunity for different jobs/transfers though once the merger is complete frequently there can be head count reduction as well though that usually takes some time to play out...
Best thing you can do is to keep your head down and try to do your work as best you can, even though it's hard to concentrate... Always a bad idea to be circulating in the hallways adding to the rumour mills... You never know if someone in HR or an exec sees you and adds your name to a shit list... Good to keep a low profile until everything blows over...
Best of luck... Let us know how everything plays out.

In for the news.
Refuse to comment on grounds it will incriminate the zomb.
