This bodes poorly for us in terms of "safe storage" laws. Why can't people figure that out on their own? Ugh.

Yup, I am sure more will come out soon. I am surprised that MDA, WCF and WAGR hasn't plastered this all over their FB yet.

Guns are illegal in schools, illegal to be possessed by minors without adult supervision, and he couldn't pass a background check to buy it.

It's impossible for this to happen. The law says so.I hate fake stories like this.

Not enough bodies to dance on, not enough blood to drag their hands through.

Son was there. He is a Senior there. Apparently there were two shots. Son heard the second shot. He was in the band room, right next to the common area where the shooter fired. There are exits to the outside in the band room and he ran out of there and got into his car. He decided to go to the public library and call us. Two buddies were with him. My son told me that he knew right away it was a gunshot because, 'of all the shooting you have done with me'.
.

2 things, glad he is ok. but since he left school grounds do they not have a "roll call" to make sure everyone is there and accounted for?

say for instance someone was shot stuffed in the closet, kid goes home others locked in classrooms and the one doesn't several hrs later ??? where is that person. massive search.

So, how did a 15-16 year old pass a background check?

Probably called Billy Gates personally to get cleared.

He wasn't the only ones that did it. Anyone that could get out an exit did.

He scared the shit out of his mother when he first called. It was 7:30 and she was asleep when he called and said, 'Some guy is shooting a gun in school.' He didn't mention he was out of the school and safe until after she started freaking out.

This is why automatic, classes will be canceled, policies are bad.
A gun at school is now the modern day, pull the fire alarm. Same with, hit lists, and bomb threats.

These kids should be quietly be expelled for the year. Leaving the rest of the school unaware where johnny went.

Mass news about the kid, the intent, the background and all that just encourages repeated behavior.

My take aways here are two things. What are the parents doing to educate the child and/or do proper gun safety? The second thing is this isn't a gun issue/mass shooting situation, but a mental health issue. If this kid wanted to make a bigger scene/mess he would have shot other students. Instead he shot the ground and ceiling. This supports the claim by the police that this boy was trying to commit suicide by cop. The shooter is even quoted in the media as telling police and teachers who were detaining him that he never wanted/planned on hurting others. But National media fail to point that information out and choose to ride the "Guns are bad and need to be banned" train all day long. If these shootings were reported as mental health issues then nobody would want to hear about it. Mental health is the largest common factor between any school or mass shooting. Why aren't we better funding more of that?

:plusone:

AFAIK this is a replay of the Marysville/Pilchuck HS shooting but without casualties. A boy clearly with mental health issues, and who (probably) got the gun from his parents.

I'm really interested to see what he is charged with.

Where is Nick Hanauers snarky comment on this one? Oh, don't care because it isn't King/Sno/Pierce.

Heard today on KIRO radio there was an armed Public resource officer that drew his weapon to shoot the shooter but didn't have a clear shot. Then the teacher tackled the shooter.
