Fuck them. I will take a fucking bus before doing the TSA Nazi gas chamber training gauntlet at an airport.

I would rather fucking walk than participate.

But, I scratched my traveling itch real good when i was younger, and now have no desire to go anywhere i can't drive to.

Besides that, when I travel by car, I get to be my own TSA screener.

" Sir, do you have any guns or contraband ? "

Answer - " Fuck yeah, lots of both. Loaded guns, bacon, whiskey, cigars, and anything else I want to fucking well please myself with. Got a problem with that ? "

Response - " No sir, I don't have a problem with that. Enjoy your trip, knock back a few shots on the rocks, and burn off a few hundred rounds at the range for me as well. "

Excellent screener right there.

Funny, I had one of my most annoying experiences at John Wayne. Traveling back from Disneyland with the wife and kid and she forgot there was a big non-clear container of apple juice in her bag. The TSA screener asks her who she's traveling with and she points to me. He says she can keep the apple juice if I get a pat-down. Dafuq? No thanks. I still have no idea how they justify that logic. We'll bend the rules for you, but only if that guy over there gets patted down...

The uber-controversial backscatter machines have all been removed (as of June-ish 2013), including those at SeaTac. They've been replaced with slightly-less-controversial millimeter wave machines, which have now been installed at even very small airports. They still display an image but now it's basically a cartoon drawing that highlights any areas that may contain suspicious items. Think of the old-school game Operation and you're pretty close. The new machines also use radio waves instead of x-rays.

Just FYI, and because I looked it all up not long ago and it's still in my head.

often when I go through SEATAC, there is usually a line or two that seems to direct folks to the metal detector instead of the backscatter. Allegedly, the backscatters have been or are being removed or changed.

I've heard that if you wear this to the airport, you are likely to get special treatment (work safe, for H2Obouget)

Spoiler: show

We always scope out the line going to the metal detector and try to get in that one. Last couple of trips, though, its only being used by people who opt out of the naked scanner or little kids.

I don't care what kind of technology they are using for the naked scanners. They will always get a polite "no thank you" from me.

And until Disney builds a park up this way, I'm almost always going to have to fly. Can't take the time to drive and the wife is a Disney addict.

Next time maybe I'll try the stormtrooper approach. That might be fun!

That's fucked up, seriously.

Stockholm syndrome, lol.

Last time I flew I took my family to disneyland. At SEA and LAX they had us go through the metal detector instead of the body scanners. The only hint I got was at LAX I got asked if I was with my wife and kids. When I replied that I was they waved us through the metal detector.

i suppose they figure you are less likely to blow up your whole family.

Both John Wayne and Burbank are usually pretty good compared to SEA.
