Cat people

Mon May 04, 2015 4:13 pm

So the wife's friend's cat had kittens and the kids of course want one :facepalm2: . I'm not a big cat person and I know kids and who will take care of it. I am going to have them sign a contract any Ideas of what would be good on that. Also how to teach the thing to use a scratching post. We have some nice furniture and don't want to see it destroyed . :thumbsup2:

Get a puppy. Teach it to bring you beer. Thanks later

I will never get a cat again. Shedding, pissing in the carpet, getting old. All are down sides. I only had them because the wife had one before we met. I don't need another kid.

what i did with my kids is:
you got a kitten and you promise to take care of it, right? clean, feed, scoop etc.
yes, dad!
see this here crate?
yes dad!
if you don't take care of your cat - i'm putting it in this here crate and taking it to the shelter and he will go to a family that will love and take good care of him
ok dad!

1 time they tried to skirt the deal - i got the crate out and got that cat and put him in the crate and was on my way out the door...
both kids were hanging on my legs and wailing... gave them 2 minutes to take care of the shit (literally, lol) and not a problem since...
of course i have to remind them now and then but never had to bring out the crate, lol

scratch posts and furniture: what i did is i bought 2 posts and put them right by the corners of the couch(es) - the most likely place where they will scratch, and it worked like a charm, after a month or 2 i moved the posts in various places around the house and the cat never touched the furniture
maybe, if you can spare the money, get some covers for the first month or 2?

Cats are like Russians: You don't train cats, they train you.

Does this mean you are gonna start living in a trailer ?

Are you also gonna start conducting online philosophical arguments on politics, religion, and history too ?

This must be in Revelations somewhere as a sign that the world is ending...................

Plus, get used to feeding the cats, letting the cats out to take a dump, and knitting sweaters from all the cat hair everywhere.

He's a cute fluffy widdle kitty cat.

And he milks it for all that it's worth.
