I just got this from my mom today. She lives in North Central Washington.
She found a Spinning Wheel on CL that she wanted. (spinning wheel for turning wool and other fibers into yarn).
So she ask if I could go get it for her and also pay for it.
Here is what she said to me.

"I just made the offer, so it will be awhile until I hear back from them. I don't really know how Craigslist works--but I have heard to meet at a police station or something like that--maybe cash is not a good idea????? What do you think? But do miscreants have spinning wheels? "

I actually have done that once. I don't trust anyone on Craigslist

Its crazy on how some people can be so damn naïve when it comes to Craigslist deals and meet people alone and at night.

My buddy was meeting some one for truck parts . He said the guy on the phone was a little weird . So I had him drop me off a few blocks away and I walk buy the time the deal was going on " checking " my phone

I went on a CL run one time.... had a mother with 2 year old twins invite me into her house!
She was hot, it was like 8pm, the kids were asleep, and she acted like nothing was odd about the situation.
I'm standing in her kitchen and my radar was going like mad thinking...some dudes gonna come out of the back room and "you messing with my woman?"...but she's just chatting away like it was nothing. It was pretty clear she wasn't looking for a hook up, so I'm like WTF?!
Finally, I looked at her dead pan and say "lady you are way to trusting! How do you know I'm not some wacko wanting to do you harm? Don't put you home address on Craigs list! And never invite someone you don't know into your house. I could be caseing the place so I can rob you...or worse."
She looked stunned and after a minute she processed what I had said and she replied in a very weak voice, " I really hadn't thought of that."
Suddenly she was clearly alert of just what she had done.
I took my stuff and excused myself very politely as I left.

Stupid people!

As to mothers asking you to go fetch a CL ad...I get that about every other month. :lol:

I have meet several people from Craigslist. No problems. I have had people buy a few things that they could only get from my place, furniture. No problems whatsoever. If I don't talk with the person over the phone then NO DEAL.... Maybe just lucky? had some dude ask my girlfriend if I was an animal skinner. Not sure what the hell that is? Anyway I never meet anyone late at night, fuck that shit.

Same deal. I'll text to keep it simple but I need to have a phone conversation before things happen. Usually screens out flakers.

However, I have had people over and at night too, due to nature of some of the junk I've sold to verify function. I always screen people as much as I can. Most (if not all) of the folks I've met in person were just plain nice people just like myself. ;)

Agreed, but as some have found out the hard way, there are the psycho exceptions. Head on swivel, watch your six.

I have sold a few dozen things on CL. If the person is from up north, I always meet them at Tulalip Casino parking lot...cameras are always running.
I have had to tell a few people, how dumb they are and are really too dumb to understand.

I don't generally deal with craigslist. Ye o'l ball and chain sells stuff via facebook groups a lot. I generally get to play over watch. She had one, one night where this chick could only meet after 9 and had excuses as to why she needed it now and couldn't wait till tmrw. Missy said she could go alone I and I insisted I was goin(at the time I was working 0400-1230. So it was already past my bedtime). Got to the link up and this chick looked totally ghetto, had two black dude sitting in her car and kept asking my old lady who I was. Gal was really nervous but missy did the swap and we got the fix out of there....

I have bought and sold on Craigs list never a problem. You have a better chance of getting killed driving your car down the street.
