Shooting Sport-Friendly Banks?

Wed May 06, 2015 2:06 pm

I'm serious about this question.

A bank who I have been using for the past 4 years just told me that their underwriters will not lend to a business in an "Undesirable" industry. :cussing:

"It would not look good in their portfolio" :angryfire:

If anyone knows of a bank local, regional or national that supports us, please post or PM me with that information.

Undesirable industry? Geez.. that's messed up. Sorry I don't have a recommendation but would like to know who the bank was that turned you down.

I will speak with my wife. She is a Asst Manager at Skagit Bank. I know they wont bank with pot companies, but its due to them being federally insured and it not being federally legal. I would bet they would take on a FFL happily. They are a nice, local, family run bank.

This one?

If so, it's not a bank - it's a credit union.

Fair enough. They're a lender.

So, you're saying BECU, a.k.a. Boeing, a company that makes/builds warplanes to defend the U.S., won't lend money to an "Undesirable" industry?

Their Board members are a pretty liberal lot, so they probably think the 2A is only for 'well regulated militias' . . . .

Yes that is the precise term that the Business Services Specialist used after speaking with the "folks upstairs" aka the underwriters.

They're more than happy to take my money and use it but when I ask them to use their money, I'm "undesirable".

I'm looking at alternatives now for my banking/credit union options.

That - is fucking hilarious. The company that has made more money on planes equipped with guns and bombs than any other on the planet.

I wonder where USAA (the bank associated with the insurance company) stands on your issue . . . .

I switched to Wells Fargo. That was the first thing I asked them before I opened my account. My banker is a gun guy. We talked a bit and he told me that they will loan my gun business once I'm established. He also told me that many of their customers carry. The only thing they ask is if you do carry into the bank, conceal carry. I can fully understand that.
If you look really close at their logo, it even has a coach gun barely visible.
