-Fishing , preferably a lake -Shooting (not to far from camp site) prefer to sit on my air mattress and shoot from there j/k (but not really) -Not to far parking, I could hike it in but that's such a pain in the ass and always worried about vehicle break-ins out in the bush.
Most popular places that take reservations are filling up fast. Chances are I know I'm going to have to drive to do some shooting. Thinking of heading somewhere over to the dry side. Any recommendations??

forget getting reservations, not going to happen unless you luck out and check just as someone cancels. They all booked up 9 months ago.
Lincoln rock state park has a dry loop on the lake. i fished in my PJ's after crawling out of bed every morning! I think first come first serve but get there thursday or early Friday. Not sure where you can shoot around there though.
Cooper lake up the road past roslyn might be an option too. Forest service campground. nice lake and way back away from it all.
or find a forest service road and look for a spot, but those will be hard to find free by friday afternoon

Memorial day is one of those holidays I flat refuse to leave the house on anymore. Labor Day is the other.
The highways fill up with morons starting late Thursday and it's insane trying to return from anywhere on Monday.
I used to go East of the mountains but after a few traffic jams that started in Issaquah heading East and from Easton when returning I said "Eff That".
I'd rather take a "holiday trip" that I can enjoy so I now invent my own holidays. They usually have names like "Jose Cuervo Day", "John Browning's Birthday", or even "'Screw it, I just want to get out of town' Day".
I've had my fill of pulling a travel trailer along the highway slow enough that my wife can get out, walk back, use the toilet, then walk back to the truck, without having to go faster than a slow walk.

Hmmmm, I go camping every holiday, and add a couple extra days into it. Have never camped next to anyone, let alone a few miles away, shooting abound at every spot, no garbage or burnt fucking nailed filled inbred sister fucking pallet fire pits as nobody goes to those places or they respect it, stand outside in the tighty whiteys to take a leak or let the dogs out to do business without shocking anybody, a load of firewood for camp and home cut on the spot. Elevations run anywhere from 3500 to 5500 so at least getting fresh mountain air and getting up into good timber and out of scrub. All on the wet side yet, drier camping is only a 45 minute tow east from a few spots so we rarely get a soaking. Get out and explore, maps aren't going to help much honestly, but Google earth works pretty damn good. Find a road, and just go. As with shooting spots, good camp spots are also sacred. Doesn't help that most of my favorite spots, are my ranges also. Use this season to explore for next.

Yeah you dont want to camp up past ronald on memorial day weekend its a nut house. I enjoy driving up the road and seeing a city of fires. Yes there is shooting and fishing up here. But its a small city. up at the campgrounds and in the woods where the free camping is.

Kiddie pool in the back yard full of hungry goldfish.
Pellet guns against targets hung from the neighbor's fence.
Parking in your own driveway.
Camp fire in the bar b q, tent set up on nice level lawn for that mattress effect underneath.
Fridge fulla beer indoors, and a porcelain throne for when you gotta take a dump.
No packing, no driving, no drunken assholes in the site next to you, no mosquitos or black flies.
Big screen TV, and comfy seats for the game in your own living room.
Priceless.

Dayumm, I totally forgot how fubar traffic is on that weekend. Working spits with my work schedule it's a rare ting for me to get two days off in a row unless requested about a month in advance.
The last time I went camping on Memorial weekend was down to Vantage back in 2001 and when I think about it there were quite a few car's on the road. Thanks for all the reminders on how bad it's gotten.
Got my friend driving over that week and wants to drive back to Spokane straight from camping on Monday. I do know of a few places on this side that are secluded so unless the weather is stellar that weekend I'll have to come up with some alternate plans.

This may have been labor day, last year. Saw 3 dual sports drive by about the third day. No people around, no traffic, no kids and no other dogs and no noise. Takes all of a casual 2+ hour drive from home with 11 miles of gravel. Watch the sun rise up against My Rainier and set against St Helens and Adams. Creek with fish just a few miles away driving, or go goat and straight down 1 mile, getting back up takes a while. Place to shoot up to 720 yds etc etc. Left on a Thursday with no traffic, came home on Tuesday with no traffic. Places like this are out there, you have to spend the fuel and time to find them. I still find camp spots on my travels, off the beaten path, yet able to drag my trailer to it.

Your just like me when I give out one of my fishing reports. I get it though.
With todays technology and sat alight imagery I'm sure I could find a spot to pitch a tent by a quiet lake somewhere
