I got my TS no problem. I ASSUMED entering the military took care of SS. Never needed a student load though.

I had to provide the number for the clearance to be a contract guard at the Customs (pre homeland security) data center near DC. Different agencies want different things. We had people with TS SCI that had to do the same checks there.

I signed up before I was 18, I remember my dad taking me to the post office and standing there while I filled out the form. I was reminded it wasn't optional.
