They do test, but no test is 100% Same reason for banning donation after tatoos or if you eat local meat in some nations.

I just donated for the 1st time, there were a 1/2 dozen questions on the form relating to sexual activity, one regarding tattoos and one about traveling to foreign countries (the reason I could not donate for the last year)
