Welp, another 'isolated incident'...

So, 33 y/o autistic guy drinks a bottle of vodka.. gets taken to the hospital.

He's released from the hospital, and an officer drives him home..Releasing him to his caretaker (his aunt)

Couple hours later, he's spotted in a softball field, 'barely able to stand'...with a bottle of vodka in his pocket (lol)

police show up, and throw him in a car... Where he spits on the window, and bangs his head against the divider (as autistic people tend to do, act out when confused)..

So, they get him to the station....

He starts POINTING at officers...

One officer decides to hit him, because, apparently he doesn't like being pointed at...

The autistic, as can be expected.. Flips the fuck out after he's hit..

So, Officer handsy decides to BODY slam the dude on his head, killing him.

Every other fucking day there's some more abhorrent behaviour displayed by 'professionals' that's explained away.

COMPLY OR DIE! Is the new catchphrase, apparently.

Video

and before the 'OMG, your thread title is so misleading, blah blah'...

Nope, it's not. At all.. A cop did indeed kill an autistic man who pointed a finger at him...

Last time I checked, it wasn't illegal to point at someone..

Hell, I know if I hit a cop's hand away if he was pointing at me, I'd be going to jail for assault...at a minimum..

Or maybe it was a 'threatening, aggressive pointing, with intent to do bodily harm'?

Who wants to be the first to say 'don't be a retard, and point at a cop, and you won't get killed?'

This kid got expelled from school for doing the same thing, so your example just another version of the zero tolerance mindset.

Charge that kid with attempted murder, we KNOW that he wanted to kill the person...

Depends. Was the guy from a white, middle class, conservative family, or was he one of the social undesirables Fox teaches people to hate and consider untermensch?

Ahh fuck me...

Watch the video again...

He's actually compliant with the cops... patting one officer on the shoulder... THEN TRIES TO GIVE HIM A HUG....

If that's not a clue that he might not have a solid idea of what's going on, I don't know WTF is...

Fucking pathetic...

Even claiming 'self defense', if you wanna even call it that, one must NOT be provoking or escalate the situation, which clearly, the officer did.

You have a 'right' to be an asshole, you don't have a right to hit someone being an asshole, and certainly SOME leeway should be given to drunk autistics who don't even have a solid grasp on reality, who just tried to hug a deputy moments before, for fucks sake...

Autistic man being autistic (and drunk)... Points at a cop... Cop hits him.. Guy reacts as expected.. cop kills him..

I think they need to fire the two deputies who did nothing as clearly, the hug was an attack, and the other deputy who he pointed to was clearly being attacked, and she did nothing to prevent it.. Thank god for that 3rd shithead that decided to show him his man card and prove he couldn't be pointed at without consequences...

So, any corrections or jail officers that know what the training is like? Are corrections/jail officers taught to escalate situations with mentally retarded people and then kill them when they (over)react?

Yes, your title is misleading. Unless you're writing for the National Inquirer, or an uber leftist anti blue paper.

Your title suggests the Autistic guy was doing nothing wrong at the time. When in fact he was doing three things wrong.
He was drunk.
He was injuried. He had been treated earlier that day at the hospital for a head injury.
And he tried to fight a cop.

And the cop did not "Kill" the guy. The guy died 2 days later in the hospital.

During the in processing, it appears that the autistic guy friendly and happy, and there seems to be little indication that he is autistic, as he is being handled quite a bit by officers prior to the hand bat. ... even patting the shoulder of the bald cop in a friendly manner (Cops arn't reacting to the touching)
He points a finger at the female officer and she points/waves back.
He points at the last officer, fairly close (a few inches) as he walks past. He appears to be pointing at his name tag or badge.
The officer bats his hand away.
At which time the autistic guy turns back towards the officer, squares up, raises both hands into a fighting stance, and then officer pounces on him.

Now I would agree that the officer is at fault for instigating the contact, and being overly aggressive. He slams that guy into the floor. There are 5 officers there. There was no need for the officer to drive him into the floor like he does.
After watching it a few times it looks like that officer is there to specifically be the muscle if an altercation breaks out. I think he grossly over reacts to a simple action by the Autistic guy.

But the Autistic guy was hardly just standing there pointing a finger when he got taken down...he turned at an officer and showed signs of trying to start a fight.

'Autistic man dies after an altercation with Police' would be a better title.

Dude is drunk, do they know he is special needs? Maybe, maybe not. Cop smacks his hand away, he got mad and put his hands up and took a fighting stance. Cop went into threat mode(very similar to beastmode) and laid him out. Should he had slammed him so hard? No. But was it pretty awesome? Yes

Killing unarmed autistic people by means of physical force is totally awesome. In fact next we should just get an arena full of autistic people and let about ten angry cops loose on them. Think of the awesomeness!!! Fuck the Constitution I wanna see some cops kicking ass!!!

I think TW feels like a lot of people do. Perhaps the silent majority? I cringe every time I read a story about police brutality. Just doesn't make sense. Cops have a high stress/demanding/dangerous job far beyond any ordinary civilian. But, they are all supposed to be held accountable to a higher standard. So how in the fuck do these events even happen? Murder is murder. If you or I were involved in the same situation on the giving end we'd be in prison as civilians. I believe that's the bottom line. There should be absolutely zero tolerance for arrest deaths. If you disagree please feel free to rebut.

Well the pseudo thin blue line crowd and the nationalistic supporters of law and order with nominal restraints on behavior always like to pop up and insist that no matter what, it's not the cop's fault, the victim should have just meekly submitted to the government/not been a child in a home suspected of selling drugs/well that fluffy golden retriever totally had it coming/fuck hippies/black people/anyone else outside of my social group, we need the cops to keep them in their place. The only time cops do bad things are when people pose with rifles in full battle rattle in suburban areas and ask middle class white people to explain their unusual behavior. THEN cops are bad.

Also, government is scary, bad and out to take your rights away because Illuminati and 9-11, but police, those armed order following agents of government are magical good guys who beat up brown people and untermensch so that white people can sleep at night.
