Here is the newest from Guberment Motors: Quote: Start with the engines. There’s now three choices, all of them new to the Camaro. The SS now features the LT1 6.2-liter V-8 from the Corvette Stingray, tuned here to about 455 horsepower and 455 lb-ft of torque to give its Kentucky cousin just a little breathing room. The new 3.6-liter V-6 now makes 335 hp and 284 lb-ft of torque. And a new entry-level trim employs the corporate 2-liter turbo four-cylinder with 275 hp and 295 lb-ft; all three can be matched to either an eight-speed automatic or six-speed manual (which has rev matching when guiding the SS.) Quote: the new Camaro weighs 200 lbs. less on average than the old model; in the V-6, that’s closer to 300 lbs. The new SS supposedly outhandles the previous 1LE upgrade trim, and even the 4-cylinder will hit 60 mph in under six seconds — quicker than the original 1967 Camaro SS. http://jalopnik.com/2016-chevrolet-camaro-455-v8-horses-of-high-tech-ameri-1704974496

Blame the EPA standards which all car makers have to meet. Ford put a turbo 4 banger in the Mustang too.
While I agree that anything other than a V8 is the wrong engine for a Camaro, Mustang, or Challenger, you have to admit that the new V6 and I4 engines have a ton of power.

They're considering a EcoBoost V6 for the new Ford Gt..... https://social.ford.com/content/fordsoc ... 17151630:s

I'm fairly certain that I'll never actually pull the trigger, but they ARE sexy as hell. For 100 grand I could be very happy.... 'Course, I could get a lot of Mosins for that.

Definitely not as many sharp lines as the last body style. Although it's lighter, I think I prefer the older ones. It does seem as though mustangs and Camaros are melding.
And a four cylinder? Leave that for the smaller performance cars. My chevy four cylinder puts out more torque and similar power than this v6 will. It's iust not right.
Same with hearing the new ford GT will have a v6. That's messed up.

A twin turbocharged 3.5 liter v-6 that will produce over 600hp. I'm strangely ok with that. Although IMO a mustang/Camaro/corvette should always be playing that rumbling v-8 soundtrack

3.5 ecoboost is a killer engine. I'm thinking of getting one in an exploder, not sure if the extra power and awd that I really don't need are worth the extra cost and 6 mpg less. Even the 2.3 ecoboost is a monster, I read that ford had to drop some horsepower to make the EPA happy. It's an easy 400hp alldAy everyday engine.

Funny thing you mentioned that. The mustang has a 2.3 ecoboost 4 banger, making 300hp just like the gt's just a few years ago.
