OK so since I seem to be on a roll this weekend about showing my inept abilities of being a "Manly Man" I thought I would start another discussion about a Tire issue and was curious on what the "Manly" advice & general opinion is.
On Friday I went to Discount Tire to get new rubber all the way around my Nissan Titan as the BFG Long Trails I put on it 6 years ago was goin on almost 80K (they were rated for 60K) unfortunately I did not have the budget I wanted for the BFGs so I went with a "budget" tire. I drove home through the city with out any issues, Saturday rolls around and I had to head to Tacoma for an errand and again taking surface streets.I head back home and took the freeway and when I got my PU up to freeway speed it felt like a dam jackhammer in the bed of my truck, it was vibrating sooooooo bad that I exited the freeway.
I got home, looked at my Tires and couldn't see any issues and Discount was now closed for the weekend so I decided to run it down the freeway again to make sure it wasn't a freak occurrence of some sort as that stretch of Highway I was on is a rough ride. (I-5 SB between 56th & 72nd) Sure as shit my PU was vibrating so bad it was causing my seatbelt to lockup and my steering wheel had about 4" of back and forth play in it.
I am taking my PU back to Discount first thing tomorrow to get this sorted out, I usually would not make a huge fuss about little things like this but come winter time in icy conditions this is gonna be completely unsafe.
And yes I know I went with a "Budget" tire but would it really cause my PU to do this? It literally feels like their is a square rock in the rear of my PU.
So has anyone here had a similar issue?

Check all your lug-nuts first, it that makes no difference. Probably they didn't balance the tires correctly.

They're out of balance. Or one is loose. Most likely out of balance.
They can either hammer a pound of lead weight on the rim of the wheel, glue a pound of lead with sticky tape on the inside edge, or be a real tire shop and rotate the tire on the wheel until they nail it with minimal weight.
Let us know how they do.

Did you happen to hear any "clunk" sounds? A wheel weight could have come off throwing the tire out of balance. I had a set of tires which constantly threw weights off for some reason.
If they had to put a bunch of weight on one spot, that usually means the tire should be remounted to the wheel. There is a method of tire balancing called "Road Force" which does this. Discount Tire shops usually don't have this kind of machine.

I did notice that one of my rear tires has a shitload of little square weights on it and the other one only has a few, Ill let ya guys know how it goes tomorrow. No clunking sounds but since I have new tread and live on a gravel driveway it does kick up a bunch rocks as I get out on the street.

One thing I don't skimp on is tires. My wife went and got some tires put on before we got married, cheapest ones they had of course. That car was all over the road at highway speeds, I took the tires back and spent money on better ones.
If the tire is a wanli, sun fung, or other throw a wok and write down the sounds name, it could be out of round. Unlikely but possible.

1st step... Check balance....
If that's squared away... Your rear end may have gone to shit.... Sounds like when mine went out. Felt like I was driving down a unmaintained DNR road.
Hope it's just your tires needing balancing

Just a worst case scenario. It's probably just off balance.

I also spend more for my tires. It makes a huge difference on my large sedan. I've never had an issue with Discount Tire. They will make it right. I suspect one tire needs to be remounted and balanced. Most likely the one with all the weights.

I agree about spending more for a trusted brand of Tire but their was a few factors that I took into consideration this time around the first one being that I have a very short work commute and my PU just sits on the weekends.

I'd buy a set of lightly used T/As before I ran something else..
Hell, even NEW they only run about 150-175 a piece, slap on the 15$ a tire for mount/balance and whatnot, and you're at $800 WITH taxes and whatnot...
