Are you getting a similar vibration at lower speeds?

I'm 99% one of your rear wheels is out of balance. Either you threw a wheel weight or there's a bird's nest in there throwing the balance off.

1st step... Check balance....

If that's squared away... Your rear end may have gone to shit.... Sounds like when mine went out. Felt like I was driving down a unmaintained DNR road.

Hope it's just your tires needing balancing

Balance and squared away. I thought they should be round. :reaction:

I would suspect Discount Tire and their shoddy maintenance practices. I have seen them strip out lug nuts, ruin hub covers, etc.

As for the generic tire brands, I can't say I would buy anything BUT. I have seen Goodyear Wranglers that could not handle a typical 4WD trail, with
broken carcass and weak sidewall issues. On the other hand, I have seen Yokohama Geolanders out climb and out last the more expensive Wranglers.

I put LT 285/75R16's on my 2003 GMC, which are two sizes larger than stock, but also give me better ground clearance with minimal modification. YMMV

OK so I went back to Discount tire and explained the issue to them and they pulled the wheels off to re-balance my tires and come to find out their machine was not calibrated properly, which is kinda funny cause when I told them what was goin on they said I could have thrown some weight off and he jokingly said the machine could be off I replied with "really?" He laughed and said that chances are pretty slim.

Pretty slim huh?

"Machine is off" is code for, "The guy who balanced your tires was really high at the time and didn't do the job right."
"Yep the machine was miscalibrated" is code for, "we put the tire(s) back on the machine and it was wonky as hell...so we rebalanced them correctly"

End story...there was nothing wrong with the machine...Operator switch was in the O.F.F. position at time of service.

Glad all is better.

I've been getting my tires at Discount for years, and , have been very happy. I just called them up to see how much it would be to fix a flat, and they said free. I told them I didn't get the tires there, and they reiterated it was still free.

Les Schwab did the same for me....

Put a patch on, and replaced the valve stem just in case..

They've also adjusted my brakes (drums), multiple times, at no charge, and scheduled an alignment, and when it got on the rack , they said 'look, you're already within spec, you don't need an alignment, we can tweak it a hair, because you're on the outside of edge of being in spec, but you're fine'.. I told them to do it anyway... 10 mins later they pulled it off, said I didn't owe them anything....

I do bring them pizza though, they put time in, so they get 'paid' for it..

I also can't count how many times they've filled up my tires...
