Nonetheless, I hope you rot in H-ll, because the particular window you chose to break happens to be one that is carried only by certified Volkswagen dealers and which is going to cost me and my insurance company around $700, if not more, to replace. :cussing:

This situation sucks. In the word of Bill Clinton "I Feel your pain". Had our VW broken into once as well....in a gated community. Part of the reason we went away from VW is EVERYTHING is $500+ on those. Everytime we had maintenance done $800 felt like a cheap bill.

keep in mind - they have your registration, they now know where you live...

Yah. Well, I don't keep any keys of any kind in the car, and I'm pretty sure that Lily (my 2 y/o Great Pyrenees/Anatolian Shepherd mix, who is wayyyy more territorial than Norman, my Great Pyrenees) would take care of anyone who came calling with unpleasant intentions. Just feeling--as someone mentioned before--terribly violated. I mean, we couldn't have been more than 20 minutes at Macrina, because B. had to meet her sister by 1000 for some cruise they are taking to Norway. I feel guilty for closing the tonneau over the luggage, I feel guilty for NOT closing the tonneau over the luggage, I feel guilty for not insisting that B. take her luggage (a small wheeled bag--for a 70 year old woman, she can pack an amazing amount of stuff into a tiny space) into the bakery...I'm sure someone saw me close the cover over B.'s luggage , because that was all messed up, too, although not damaged.

You should only feel guilty for not catching them in the act, so you could cheerfully beat them to a pulp. With " Je ne sais qua. "

I have experienced a similar thing (meth heads took the vehicle service manual with the registration papers). The investigating police told me this is really common: The perps can fence those papers to gangs who then steal the car, and flip it. In my case the perpetrators were caught a few weeks later, and nothing ever came of it. (Yes, they were know meth heads.)

I never did learn what the market price for vehicle registration papers is. This type of property crime is seriously stupid.
