Quote: A U.S. warship has begun shadowing an Iranian cargo ship approaching the coast of Yemen with Iranian military escorts, raising concerns it could be delivering weapons for Houthi rebels in violation of a United Nations arms embargo, Defense Department officials said.
Iran says the cargo ship, "Iran Shahed," is carrying humanitarian relief to war-torn Yemen. It is being accompanied by a pair of Iranian warships, the "Vosper" and "Bandar Abbas." http://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/u-s-w ... en-n361436So there is an Iranian cargo ship going to Yemen... now meeting up with 2 Iranian war ships? Sound fishy to you? With this information... it's a no brainer to board and inspect. So typically this would be a no brainer... but the Iranians are playing a game. They supposedly have "observers" on board. So is this a ploy? Sure 99% of the cargo is "humanitarian aid" stuff but are they sneaking in something else? Are the Iranians wanting US to board and find nothing so they can raise "complaints" at the UN? Or are they hiding something and presenting "observers" so to deter being boarded? Tough one. Well, not really. I would board and it would clear things up either way. Always board would be the best approach. Don't want to let slip something "special" slip by...

Well Obama did draw a pink line in the sand which might be crossed. I would say do the usual. Beat your chest about how tough we are and then beat it. It should be worth at least a 15 minute one-way press conference during which he uses "I" about 632 times.
Personally, I would turn every weapon system on the ship to "arm" and lock em up. Lets see how good their threat detection systems work. See who calls who on the radio first. Then board and inspect, at gun(s) point if required. If that is a problem.....launch it all. I hate those pesky weapons computer malfunctions. Chinese chips don't you know.
But this is Obama, King Chicken Shit of the Drone (both verbally and tactically). Nothing will happen.

Board and "find" a ton of pot, one million dime baggies of heroin and a working still. Arrest them all and put the ships in the evidence locker. Pierce County SD worked out the basics of this method decades ago.

What sounds fishy to me is that these 2 warships have abandoned their assigned posts. Aren't they supposed to upholding their nation's time-tested strategy of giving dirty looks to everyone transiting the Strait of Hormuz? I thought that was their thing.

Those observers can observe a few missiles 50ft off the water coming at them.

I think the Iranians are baiting us into a direct conflict with them. We have been at war via proxy with Iran for many years, and they're testing our resolve to really challenge their aggression. I don't think we should take the bait yet. But that option has to remain on the table because if it doesn't, Iran will get nukes and then we'll have a major threat on our hands. I just don't think our Complainer-in-Chief has the cojones to actually do anything about it.

I will have to say I don't agree with not getting involved. I think in these types of cultures "weakness" is not a good sign to show. You have to show strength and resolve to deter against a country that is willing to "poke" a "bear" If you don't then it just leads to more and more encroachment and brazen "pokes" against the US. When it's done by "militants" it's one thing. You can't control militants. But when a Country's government does it. It needs to be put down. *When I say "these types of cultures" ... a warrior culture, founded on war and strength. From their religion and history.
