Remember Memorial Day !!!!
Fly the Stars and Stripes. Say "Thank You" for all that gave their ALL. Be thankful they fought for what we have now. Say a prayer for all the loved ones who lost some one. Memorial Day is not JUST a day off and the first camping trip of summer. Memorial day is to remember our fallen Brothers and Sisters.
Have a Good Memorial Day weekend.

I will be spending the day with brothers, men cut from the same cloth. We will toast to our fallen brothers, these men were husbands, fathers, sons, brothers, grandfathers, uncles and so much more.
To the ones we love, and the ones we've lost.
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers; For he today that sheds his blood with me Shall be my brother.

It's about remembering those who served and sacrificed for our freedoms. Many times we forget the real reason for this holiday. Here's to my family and friends that have defended our beautiful country.

It amazes me every year how many people do not know the difference between Memorial day and Veterans day. I remind the same people every year I am still alive, and that the day to thank me for my service is in November.

I like to make a point of thanking the living service members on Memorial Day, too, because they're still here to receive the thanks, and they deserve more than just 1 day a year for people to be thankful for their service. That video gets me every time. Good stuff.

I will pour a drink our for my brothers that did not make it home . My wish is we would end these fucking wars. I have had my fill from my baptism of fire in 1993 in Mogadishu Somalia to Mosul Iraq 04-05 . Now I have two nephews serving . One in the USMC 0311 and one in the Army 11B. I would give anything to switch places with them all they want is to go to war . I just want this shit to end. I'm already broken I hope they can keep their humanity. There are days like today thinking of brothers lost that you want to punch you ticket and check out .

I remind the same people every year I am still alive, and that the day to thank me for my service is in November. Good point - I see that also. However, I will say that whenever I find out someone is a veteran, I immediately thank them for their service. It's a year-round thing for me. I am so sheltered. So many of us are. The closest relation my family has as a veteran is my grandfather and a couple of cousins (we are not close to the cousins, though.) I only get glimpses of the sacrifices that our military has given. Someone who hasn't been in the military or around it - can we ever understand? Or, is giving respect and honor enough? Side note: My seven year old son, as part of his Cub Scouts, participated in a Flag Retirement Ceremony for 500 flags. It was amazing to see the respect he had as he retired each flag! Feed the flag in, stand and salute... A few weeks later, he saw an article about someone stomping and burning the flag. I thought he was going to explode with anger!

For those in the Oly area: VFW Flag Ceremony happening on Memorial Day. It is taking place 3:30-5:00pm at Woodlawn Funeral Home that is located at the corner of Ruddell Road and Mullen Road.
