I like the cost of ammo - wait for the right Sportsmans Warehouse post on Slick Guns, and you can land a can of 440 rounds on your doorstep for a hundred bucks, free shipping coupon used.
No other 30 cal. ammo even comes close for how cheap 7.62 x 54 is to shoot.

So to make the perfect rifle we need a semi auto rifle... that shoots 7.62x54r....uses a removable magazine and an off-set bolt....has a crap ton of accessories..... and that's build like a tank....that you can repair with bailing wire duct tape and a hammer...hmmm Vepr!

Veprs really need a double column mag to be in consideration as a battle rifle. I don't care how cheap the ammo is.
