This month marks my first year anniversary of being a proud, and LEGAL, gun owner! :woohoo: :woohoo:
My co-worker warned me that once i get in to this, it's almost impossible to stop! Damn he's right. :frust:

Anyway, what would you guys choose(from the two below) if you were in my pajamas right now?
My girlfriend told me she ain't buying me no gun related stuff and prevents me from getting anymore. :angryfire: (i bought her lens for her photography hobby but she won't return the favor for my hobby! grrr)

Anyway, I have two things in mind but i can only get one.

1) i was thinking of getting a reloading setup. Nothing too fancy, probably just a Lee classic turret plus all the tumbler, and scale, and dies, and powder measure etc....

2) layaway a Springfield 1911 SS. By the time it's paid off (a month or two), the gf will be in a plane to indo for a month worth of vacation for the summer. Muhahahhaa its a perfect plan and i am so temted to do this! and by the time she's back, it'd be too late because its been bought already!

And how much am looking to save per round if i reload my own?

This is OK:

"My girlfriend told me she ain't buying me no gun related stuff"

This aint:

"and prevents me from getting anymore." :angryfire:

I'm guessing you just turned either 19 or 22 years old. If she is your girlfriend and is already trying to tell you how to run your life, it is time to find a new girlfriend.

As for the reloading set-up or the 1911, you can't go wrong with either one. I have both a Lee turret press and a Springfield 1911 and both are great. I have also had controlling bitches in my life and can tell you that is no way to live.

My advise, go get both of them now, the reloading set up and the 1911. Bring them home and show them to her. If she gets pissed off........send her ass packing.

Ruh-roh! Do you live with her and share a bank account? You're 22 bro, you probably wont marry this one. Do what you want man, you've got a good 4-8 years before you have to start getting your shit together

On your question here's my take. You need at least one of each of these before you buy a reloader:

-Auto pistol (only 1 is skimping)
-Revolver
-Assault Rifle
-Target rifle
-Shotgun (tactical or sporting)

If you don't have something that fits in to each of these categories, well, you need more guns/optics/accessories. :thumbsup2:

You might want to find the calibers and weapons that you like most before jumping in to reloading. Die sets can get expensive.

shiiiiiet maybe if i by her one of those pink pistol she'll be ok with all of these. And I'm old by the way.... 25 this month.

I don't have a revolver nor shotgun. i have the rest.
a shotty would be easy to get a hold off. I just have to patrol the for sale trade for one of those pistol grip mossy500, or 870's. Those are pretty much the shotties i'm eyeing for since since they are quite affordable

ahahaha at your suggestion at buying them all and showing it to her. What a way to say you ain't gonna tell me what to do! :stubborn:

Ain't gonna from a girlfriend ain't gonna cut it. If you willingly support her hobby financially, she should at least morally support yours. Especially since your hobby may be responsible for protecting her life and limb some day. Hopefully, she comes around. If she doesn't, there are far more fish in the sea. Toss her back, and go fishing !

I'd say, Buy more guns! Get 50 if you have to! Scatter them all over the house. Call them "Antiques" like I did!

Walt, you are my hero.

8shotz, congrats on being "one of us" for a full year! Hell yes, it's a great thing and you should want more!

Seriously though, heed Walt's advice. It's okay to have a girlfriend/wife who doesn't like guns; it is NOT okay to have a girlfriend/wife who will prohibit you from buying them, if you are buying with your money. If that really is her approach, then you need to make some changes.

But moving on to your original question:

- I absolutely HATE the idea of buying anything on layaway. If you don't have the money, then save up the money and then decide what to buy. Don't buy on credit, either.
- Whether to buy a 1911 or a reloading setup depends a lot on how much you shoot, and which calibers. I can reload .45 Auto, as an example, for about 17 cents/round. (Assuming brass is free.) You can buy .45 Auto for what . . . about 40 cents/round after tax? So yes, your savings are significant, but remember that you also need to pay for all of the equipment. So do the math, and also decide if reloading is something that you will find interesting. If it will be a hobby unto itself, then do it. If it will be a chore, then don't.

Let us know what you decide. (About the girlfriend, of course.)

I'm 25 with 22 years experience. Trust me, straighten this one out NOW or send her on her way.
