I'd like to nominate this thread for worst thread of 2017.

Also, if you use your call sign from the FCC, it is all there too.
If you have an FFL they make that info public too.
If you have been married, public info.
If you bought property, public.
Gone to court for anything, public.

I know. I want to change my address to a ups po box or something. I hate the fact that my callsign has my public info on it

:plusone:

Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should do something. Gun owner info is public in many states, but that doesn't mean the newspapers should be developing interactive maps and posting them online for any anti-gun knucklehead to use. Seems to me there were a few people around these parts who found that prospect pretty unsavory.

Another :plusone: for that nomination.

I'm not sure why there's such an uproar here.

So the OP apparently has a serious need to find this guy, and he has a large network of people (WaGuns) at his disposal. What should he do?

1) Do what his did, just say, "Does anyone know xxx."
2) Say, "Does anyone know xxx, here's why I need to find him."
3) Do nothing, don't use the WaGuns network.

I think 1) is less potentially defamatory than 2). 3) seems like kind of a waste, if he really needs to find this guy.

*shrug* I don't see the issue here.

I'd be pretty damn pissed too. I'm a very private person when it comes to my identity, I don't use my real name here and haven't posted a picture of myself. I try to make my online presence here small as possible, sure someone can use my ip or whatever to find out more but the people that do that isn't everyone here.

Can't wait for Paul to logon here.
"Hey Paul! All these guys are talking about you on this gun board! WTF did you do???"

I used to worry about all my personal info out on the internet.

Then I figured out that I was too old, harmless and boring, so nobody really gave a shit.. :blackcloud1:

PMs still work, without public scrutiny last I checked.
