I'm not sure why there's such an uproar here.

So the OP apparently has a serious need to find this guy, and he has a large network of people (WaGuns) at his disposal. What should he do?

1) Do what his did, just say, "Does anyone know xxx."
2) Say, "Does anyone know xxx, here's why I need to find him."
3) Do nothing, don't use the WaGuns network.

I think 1) is less potentially defamatory than 2). 3) seems like kind of a waste, if he really needs to find this guy.

I originally asked if anybody here knew a particular individual. Not for any specific information, just whether somebody knew them. I listed a name because I thought it would provide me more useful information than if I'd asked if somebody here knew a older bald guy from Olympia.

My reasons for wanting to know are nobody's business frankly. People can choose to respond or not.

I do regret causing a problem on the site and am sorry for that.

It's ok man, it is truly impressive how peoples mind can run amuck. I agree with you, nobody's business. I though your question was a valid one. Sometime older guys are not online. I have a neighbor that you couldn't track down if your life depended. I know his name, and had you asked it, I would have went over to talk to him. There are a ton of people that are not online, or easily found. They prefer it that way. More often than not, a google search turn up an obituary.
