Nice video, but a little tear is running down my cheek from all that ammo going up in smoke and being damaged.

It's OK, former Botach Tactical salesman Efraim Diveroli sold all of the damaged ammo to the US government at a huge premium.

Needs a little 'hands on' education.

I would have been fired that day.

For fans of aerobatics and precision flying:

Combination of External Footage and Cockpit Video
Skip to 2:50 for take-off rolls

All Cockpit Video
My favorite Thunderbirds maneuver, the Starburst or Fleur-de-Lis is at 4:10 from cockpit vantage of solo pilot

F-16 Demo Team Cockpit Video
One of the coolest maneuvers is a high G turn followed by vertical climb finally topping out inverted at 4:50 or thereabouts

Cool to get a pilot/cockpit perspective on what you see at the shows from the ground. Very interesting occupation. Essentially you are sedentary in one way just sitting down while applying technical skills to the controls. On the other hand, the maneuvers are incredibly physically demanding with the g-forces involved.

Been to tons of air shows as a spectator and have flown as a passenger in aerobatic aircraft (Pitts Special, Yakovlev trainer) twice in my life while the pilot performed barrel rolls, aileron rolls, inverted flight, loops, hammerheads/tailslides, chandelles and split eights. Inverted flight hanging by the harness straps is somewhat disconcerting while you look at the ground below through the top of the canopy  Riding along during aerobatics is exhilarating, scary, and somewhat sickening all at the same time.

Rumor has it that if you slow the sound down and play it backwards, the little bzzzzt sounds like the A10 Warthog saying
"No you don't."

Did someone order the swiss? Man I love that sound. Probably my favorite airplane out there. To think the military was going to discontinue them.

My neighbor was a medic in Afghanistan and Iraq, and he said it is the sound of angles. He told me of two occasions where they were pinned in, running low on ammo, and guys were getting hurt. Air support was called in, but it took what felt like an eternity for it to arrive, but was only like 5-15 min out. When he heard that sound from two A10s he knew they were going to be ok. Helicopter support came in next and picked them up.
