Diesel shop recommendations please!

Thu Jul 06, 2017 7:19 pm

The turbo died in my 6.7 Cummins, 2008 Dodge 3500. Dealer diagnosed it and wants $5600 to fix it. I would rather not get screwed that deeply.

Any recommendations for a shop to install a new turbo? I am in the Tacoma - Federal Way area. Thank you!

Think the local Diesel Bombers message board is still up, haven't been on it for years, they'd definitely have some good recommendations. Or, someone that has more than a bit of Dodge parts and experience to sideline the job.

Dirks did an in frame on my Peterbilt before I bought it and it's has numerous oil leaks that I need to track down.

H&H does good work. They did a bunch of work on my vans old motor.

Hope He&H is doing good work now. Used them for machine work up until late nineties, it was 50/50 and my scrap pile was always growing with heads an blocks not done right.

Thank you guys. Looks like it's about $2500 worth of parts + labor. Dodge fucks you hard and often.

A big FUCK NO.....

I had my rig up there, they put 'the new guy' on it to learn, billed me out the ass for a guy that didn't know what he was doing... killed my brand new glow plugs causing me to replace them, and I had to take it back to them TWICE for work that wasn't done right.

Then, magically, they killed my IP when they had it in their shop, and demanded I pay for a replacement......and fucked up my high idle (doesn't work).... probably by hooking a glow plug wire to it (they're right next to each other).... THEN killed my starter, which I took to sound starter in Tacoma who told me it was hosed, as someone had just been cranking and cranking on it and it died from abuse/overuse and not normal wear....

I didn't drive it that much, and only recently noticed an oil leak..... a leak that shouldn't be there with only a couple thousand miles after a repair....

Add onto that, it was like pulling teeth to get them to replace the glow plugs, and I had to pay for the plugs and they still tried to bill me for it saying it wasn't their fault that brand new glow plugs burned up (it is when you leave the truck on ign and glow the plugs for too long), then they only replaced 4 of the 8 glow plugs because 'the other ones are a pain in the ass to get to'...

Fuck them. HARD. Only reason I didn't sue the shit out of them is because I didn't have the time/money to do so.

When you have an EMPLOYEE come up to you on the dl and say 'hey, they fucked shit up, they're overbilling you, I don't feel comfortable with what they're doing to you'... You KNOW you have a fucking problem...

An that right there, is the stomach churning feeling I had hearing their name again.
H&H was only close game in town back then so all my 6.9 and 7.3 machine work and some some other work was done there, along with some Detroit work.
Got to the point that a higher percentage was bad work. Turns out drugs are bad... won't go much into details, but bad work and no backing and a rough time for them.
Stopped using them for a couple years, cold call with promise of better service got them work again. Work that went from decent, to same situation in as little as a year.
Never again.

I do have a couple guys for diesel work on my Peterbilt. Not sure if they do small engines but I would trust them if they said they could.

PM me if you want info.
