One of my son's best friend, and one of the greatest natural athletes I've seen play 5 sports since 2006...here is his 'fro in 2015.

Today he's in Army bootcamp. Left last week-end.

God bless this young man. He'll flourish with his leadership in the Army.

Observations from the past few years:

The length of my locs makes some woman loose their minds. Would you ever walk up to a person that you don't know and touch, tug or otherwise put your hands in their hair?

The length makes the hair style more socially acceptable.

If it wasn't for the hair, I would just blend in with all the other guys.

The last time I visited in Jamaica was 2006/2007 and my hair was just about chest length. The treatment I received from Jamaicans was that of a Holyman. To them I was a Rasta. I was still a practicing Christian and was with a medical mission group of Americans. I knew very little about Haile Selassie, Bob Marley, Rastafari, or reggae music. Doing my best not to be a "Rasta Imposta", I accepted the blessings and gave back the blessings in return. I can only imagine what would happen if I went hack. People wanted to be near me, not only when I had video and audio recording equipment on me, also when I was just sitting, talking to people, seemingly just to be blessed by my presence.

So much in a hair style.
