I was playing an old video game earlier and when I quit the game everything was stuck in low resolution. I'm currently typing in huge blurry letters as I make this post.
Tried to auto adjust monitor, still the same. Tried playing with resolution settings on Windows and it's set to 1280x1024 like it should be, but still looks all messed up. Tried restarting. That's about as far as I go.
Simplest thing - Press <Ctrl> then drag up or down with two fingers on your touchpad or touch monitor to increase or decrease font size
If that doesn't work try the following: - Right click on Desktop - Select Display Settings - Select Advanced Display Settings - Select 1920 x 1080 or similarly small/detailed resolution
I know you said you rebooted it, but did you do a power cycle, as in shut it completely down and restart it, or just a restart? A power cycle can cure many ills.
I just did a hard shut down. Pulled the power cord while it's on. Still messed up.
Unfortunately not a touch screen. Under display settings the highest offered resolution is 1680x1050. I tried setting it to 1680x1050 before and it didn't help. Just tried changing it again after the hard shutdown and it worked to change it back to normal resolution.
So basically, every computer problem can be fixed by unplugging it and plugging it back in?
If you want, you can launch teamviewer and I can remote in and check to see if I can figure it out. Don't install it, just do the one-time launch thing.
Just PM me the code and password when you are around.
So a hard shutdown is pulling the cord while it's running? Did you do a normal shutdown?... not a restart shutdown? Shut it down normally, have a Beer, turn computer back on and leave the ancient video games alone.
Our service department gets numerous calls per month from customers wanting an onsite tech to repair their machine(s). Lots of times the dispatcher solves the problem by just having them power down their machine and turn it back on.
