I bought a Dashcam today, so you better watch your driving.

A first for me, a dash camera. Why? Who knows. I like gadgets. It's about the only gadget I haven't had that even vaguely interests me. It's a DOD 470W+. Takes pretty sweet looking videos and has GPS and shit.

I also like the "parked" feature it has. It detects motion, and starts recording. Albeit only in one direction, but the lens captures a 150 degree view.

Do cars still have those? Oh wait...yes they do, they just call it something else now. Kinda like not having a 13th floor in a buildings elevator. Floor 14 is still the 13th floor.

Easy install. Suction cup thingy behind my rear view mirror on the windshield. I poke the power cable under the edge on the headliner at the top of the windshield and follow it under the passenger door edge molding, down under the pillar molding, under the front seat and then up into the 12v outlet on my center console. The cable easliy stuffed under all the moldings. No wires hangin in my field of view.

I've only done the setup on mine inside the house. I plan on sticking it behind the rearview mirror also.
Q: Is there a way to turn off the monitor?

Yep. Or you can have it shut off like a screen saver after a few minutes.
