I've had good luck with replacing all that with a load genie. It's a combination check valve and head unloader.

I don't have one on the RolAir that I use at work everyday but have put them on compressors I've used in the past. It simplifies the plumbing and eliminates the need for the pressure switch to unload the head.

I knew I was using the wrong word, just didn't have the time to scratch my head and remember what the new word is. We used to call them condensers. (Like the 'condenser' across the points in old points distributors on cars.)

Go to a motor shop and ask for a condenser though, and if the guy behind the counter isn't at least as old as me, he'll probably just give you a funny look.
