OK. Screw this. We just moved, wife and I are in bed talking about what daughter should do if the house catches fire. We hear a bump downstairs and think nothing of it. Then a minute later the FREAKEN smoke alarm in our room starts going off. I don't know if the fire alarm is connected to the others. So thinking maybe someone snipped a fire alarm wire instead of an alarm wire (this house has an alarm) I check the house for trouble. Double check all the doors to make sure they are locked and check the yard for signs of foul play.
All is clear I come back upstairs and remove the smoke alarm from the wall. No wires connecting it to the other alarms.........
The door to son's room will swing open and shut on its own.
Earlier when we got in bed wife thought I left a light on downstairs. I did not.
I've got goose bumps and am sleeping with my crucifix....
If the CO2 detector goes off you'll find me at the local Holiday Inn.
My wife is obsessed with the house behind us. It is fully furnished with 70s furniture and abandoned. The deceased owner is named Dwight. My wife is obsessed with this house and Dwight.

I was never a big believer in "ghosts", but with 100% certainty, the house my wife's parents sold a few years back was straight up haunted. Pictures swinging, full cups of liquid tipping over, radios turning on and off, you friggen name it. She always told me about this happening to her family there as a kid, but I called BS.
After a few months of dating about 16 years ago, her parents were going to Arizona and her Dad called me and asked if I would stay at their house with her. What grown ass man wants a young punk staying with his Daughter at their place while out of town? Well the first night I quickly found out why, he probably wanted me dead. I had brought a suitcase full of about a weeks worth of clothes, and was down stairs changing. I was the only one down there, I got done changing, left my suitcase on the couch on its back with the lid flopped open, turned off the lights and was headed upstairs. On the 2nd or 3rd stair, I hear something fall.
I went back down, turned on the light and saw my suitcase standing up on its side about 20 feet from where I had left it, and my clothes were spread all over the floor. There was only one way in and out of that basement, and after looking around convinced that someone was down there, I was solo. I packed my shit, walked upstairs and told her were going to stay at my house.
She laughed and said, "told ya". Never again did I spend another night there.

Its your alarm system.Check all wiring and batteries. Download the manual for your alarm system and follow the checklist for testing. Check for drafts around window seals. This will improve your energy costs.

In all seriousness if you're uncomfortable...Well, If I was uncomfortable in a house...I'd find a way to break the lease or sell the sucker.
Screw that 'fixing it' with a priest shit.
EDIT:
BTW,,,,Last remodel State code was the main smoke alarm only had to be hard wired with battery back up and wired to the alarm in the master bedroom which also had to be battery backed up.. All others can be battery operated no hard wire. That was ten or so years ago.

Drafts will also make doors swing back forth, depending on the prevailing wind.
