Pot smells different depending on the strain, the type (indica versus sativa), and how it was grown. The odor can run the gambit from grassy or hay-like (usually low end shitty weed) to the more pungent "skunky" smells (usually higher end stuff but not always).
It's a personal preference, whether you like the smell or not. I know people who like to get high who can't stand the smell, so they use other methods like vaping or edibles.
