I went on their website and filled out their questionnaire.
Left this little jewel for them:
Quote:
Charging a fee of $8.75 to file a sellers report? That is outright theft!

Why? The car didn't do anything. It is already going to have its carcass stripped.

3. File your report
You should file within 5 days. There's no late fee for filing after 5 days, but you may be held liable for any financial, criminal or civil liabilities that the new owner may incur. It's in your best interest to file as soon as possible.

The fee is $8.75, you can file your report:

Online
Report of sale online
Using your License eXpress online account
or
At a vehicle licensing location
Fill out the Vehicle report of sale form
Bring to an office or
Mail to the vehicle licensing location of your choice. Include a check for the fee. Please make checks out to "Department of Licensing."
After you've filed:

Keep a copy for your records. If you need a copy, submit a Vehicle Record Request and fee.
If you end up keeping the vehicle, visit a vehicle licensing location to have the report of sale deleted.

YOU GOTTA BE FUCKING KIDDING ME!!!!!!!!

How in the name of Jesus can they pull this shit off? "Hey guys, let's charge a fee for whatever we feel like and we don't even need any authority to do it either."

This is what Tim Eyman has been telling us all about for decades. I've given him money in return for my lower car tab fees (which should be lower).

At the very least, support Tim Eyman's initiatives:

What’s the fee to send a certified letter?

Honestly I’d go that route

Sold a car to my wife's co-worker, totally trustworthy dude. Just gonna blow this off completely.

I saw the PDF form also states you have to send in a fee.

$4.25 including first class postage for a letter.
Use it all the time for any legal or official correspondence.
Because the courts, IRS, DOL wouldn't lie and say they never got it, right?

Sent off my 940, 941 to the IRS a couple weeks ago.
Same address, different PO Box.
941 got there in 2 business days. 940 was missing for almost 2 weeks.

They want the fee even if you show up in person. So, if you don't give them their fee, do they just shred any documents handed over to them without a payment?

Things to know
As of July 28, 2019 you'll pay $13.25 to report the sale of your vehicle. There's no fee to report the sale of a boat.

https://www.dol.wa.gov/vehicleregistrat ... title.html

Wow, that's some bullshit! Looks like it's $13.25 and this is pretty new...

Honestly, if you take the plates off I don't see how much can come back to you unless the car is abandoned somewhere. In that case you could just resell it back to the scrapper! Ha.

Fuck DOL. What a scam of an organization.
