I wont sell a rig unless the new owner goes to the DOL with me after the sale and transfer it on the spot. That way I avoid the fee and know they are not a liability in my old rig.
And as a buyer I expect the seller to meet me at the DOL to do the same. That way I know the rig is not hung up with a lien or divorce or some shit like that doesn't show on a signed legit looking title.

I did the same thing when I bought a cherry Harley on here for some banded $100 bills. Seller didn't want to go o DOL with me, but I insisted. I didn't know it it was a clean title, stolen, lien, his to sell, etc. Lots can happen to a bike in the 10+ years since the paper title was issued. Turned out to be a good, smooth deal.

This is one way, hassle, but gets it done another option is to write up the release of interest and have a notary witness and stamp the paperwork, something happens, they cannot sue you as you have proof you sold the car This issue is reason 9,128 why we need to get rid of Democrats

On top of that $13.25 fee, they even want a CC processing fee.

WA DOR charges 2.5% if you pay by credit card. They don't want to incur an expense to get their free money. Imagine that.

In person? Fee. Total bullshit. In this day and age, credit cards are so common that they should eat the fee. Additionally, paying an armored vehicle to transfer their cash the bank has a cost - and I'd bet it is equal or greater than the cost of the credit card fee. Not to mention the risk of employee theft, being robbed etc. Just another way for them to raise fees without actually raising fees.

All the above are reasons why old farts that don’t live in HOAs leave their junk in the yard to rot. If they would make the system free there would be a lot less eyesores sitting around.

I think the fee is bullshit. However, about 2007, I traded my wife's car in the Toyota dealership in Burien. About 3 years later, I got an inquiry about the car. I didn't know about the registration, so I hadn't done it. Well, seems the dealership didn't do it either. Don't remember what the issue was, but I was able to deflect it by telling them the date of the trade in.
I thought that was really nice of the dealership to do that for me.

The CC fee was 3%.
The thing that really pisses me off is that for nearly $14, I don't get jack squat in return.
I still have to pull the plates because the tolling entity can't be bothered with the complexities of NOT charging me after my car is reported "SOLD" for FOURTEEN f'ing dollars.
The big earthquake just can't come soon enough!

Your definition and my definition of "junk" and "eyesores" are likely vastly different. You complain about Gov't rules and regs, but seem to advocate for the rules and regs of an HOA. You might enjoy living in Stepford...not me.

I lived in one for 7 years in Lake Stevens. Our neighbor was a rental, out-of-state owner. The house was run down and falling apart. I had to look at a non-compliant satellite dish bolted to a rotting roof every time I was in our dining room (amongst a whole slew of other crap). The fees that the owner racked up are insignificant compared to what the owner will profit when he finally sells the house. And I would get snarky "fines" every time my trash can was outside.
