I was referring to the massive protests that shook the country, and the 1968 Democrat National Convention in Chicago. I was also referring to the assassinations of Martin Luther King and Robert F Kennedy, just months apart, during an election year that had much much more societal dis-function than anything witnessed since, including 2016.
And it really didn't slow down in 1969. There were tens of thousands at protests against the Vietnam war it seemed almost every few weeks. Some radicals planted bombs for political reasons that killed innocent civilians and police. A whole bunch of other stuff, too.
