Remorse absolves them???
How about the lady a few years back on death row who became a Christian in prison and was a model inmate.
Court said she was condemned for what she was and what she did back then, not now. Executed her.
"But on Monday, U.S. District Court Judge Lawrence O'Neill said he was so moved by the remorse shown by the criminals that he decided prison time was not justified, reported the Bakersfield Californian."
Remorse absolves them???

A cop in prison on a felony, no matter how minor...IS a death sentence. Eventually someone will whack him.

He committed the offense knowing the repercussions (or lack thereof, in this case).. That's like saying we shouldn't send a child rapist to jail because he'll get shanked...
