 Yes they let old farts like me become LTs. It's not a bad thing, I'm already grumpy and hard to please, and can subsist on little sleep and coffee for long periods of time. In all seriousness, the WA ANG is a great place to kick your career back off, they love former active duty from any branch.

My dream was to be commissioned. I got that in 1998. Went from E-5 promotable sitting in a E-7 slot to a O-1 2LT

Served in 1st Civ Div for a long time before getting back in. Even better, my one USMC deployment doesn't qualify for anything in the Army. There are a couple state medals I qualify for but I don't have a clue how to source them. Not a big deal.
